Its a sort of brazilian "miami-bass" based kind of music +
maculelê percussion (afro-brailian rhythm), "developed"
mostly by people living on slums on Rio de Janeiro city.
Production uses to be pretty raw and most lyrics have a
sexual content, sometimes shouty and mad, others pretty
funny and full of insane rhymes... vocals are all in
portugese, as they rarely speak english or other language.

Its been a subculture over here since the early 90s, but it
changed a lot with time!

Diplo was responsible of promoting it on many places over
USA and Europe, playing and releasing lotsa mixes combining
it to electro, guettotech, breakbeat and even idm/
abstract!
