Duh. Listen to the music and pick out the notes one by one you idiot. It's not like it's a complex piece of music. Mozart listened to Miserere once then travelled home and transcribed it note by note. So, it's safe to assume you're not the next Mozart.

Dave Stewart wrote a book explaining how to read and understand music in laymans terms. it was called "understanding the dots" or something. it's very well written so that even the biggest idiot can understand it

Learning to read sheet music is easy. It takes a day, tops, to become familiar with it!

the only reason to write it on sheets would be not having a computer around, just use an emulated synthie in reason and hit the keys, its fun :)
if you dont have reason, just download jeskola buzz, its freeware and quite good

There are pros and cons. I have a generally poor memory, but the plus is that I am very good at sight-reading. Pieces I play a lot become part of me anyway, so even though I'm reading the music, my hands generally know where to go before I actually read the music. This is a meditative state. In fact, I am existent in two time-states - in the present reading the music, and slightly in the future because I am ahead of the other state. It has a beautiful transcendental quality. In fact, when I play the piano, I am in a spiritual state of rapture, which nothing else (apart from fucking), can approach.
Monoid, go to fruityloops piano-roll and hit play and let the bar loop. If the melody in your head is strong enough, you will be able to put it in note by note through the process of trial and error. The benefit of being able to read sheet music, and having some rudimentary knowledge of musical composition is that this process is vastly quickened. In fact, you can eliminate the trial and error part completely. Mozart said that melodies were always walking into his head, and all he did was write them down. Use him as your role model and you won't err.
