Two new ones. well one is a remix but still good.
up on Boomkat. Lets talk ...

Bruk &
Home ( edit ) are incredibly fresh sounding.

Bruks got a really jumpyass beat going with it..
the vocal style plays to this as far as I can tell..
Ordering it for the holidays cant wait.

wish these guys were on Bleep or Itunes.
or Myspace for that matter.

Hope to get my order in by NewYears so I have more music to
blast.

Ta for the heads up, I loved the album, so will check this
out pronto.

For people who've not heard it; it really defies
categorisation, but the best way I can think of describing
it is if Trip Hop is hip hop with slightly jazz tinged
female vocals, this is dubstep with female vocals that range
from blues to r&b to folk. It's definately not just grime
with a female MC.

My girlfriend really hates it; she can't be in the room when
I play it (only artist it happens with). It's not that it's
grating- it's fairly "easy listening" in those terms, it's
just the vocals get to her so much.

I've read it's supposed to be clinical, soulless bullshit.

I've had a listen and I don't like either of the new
releases, but whilst clinical, the first album was good. A
bit "coffee table dubstep", but nice nonetheless.

That is probably the best way to put it...

Coffee table Dubstep.

i've had it with electronic music. every week there are
releases by people called things like pramem and garlep
fuse, making the same old shite like most of us here make
for fun but are more percy-veering and it ends up at boomkat
and its just like 'who can drop most obscure name' game

Don't think they are very good, the album is really bland

I prefer the Vinyl theyve laid out.

The CD isnt the best.

I don't know if that comment is really relevant to Various
Productions. The only person here who has posted music that
sounds even remotely like this is teapot. Neither are
various productions some amateurish group releasing on a
tiny obscure label: They're signed to XL, home of Basement
Jaxx, Thom Yorke and The Prodigy.

I agree there is a lot of music like you describe on Boomkat
though.

well i made an assumption and got it wrong, but still from
what people have said it sounds like a crock of shit anyway

I dunno, 3 vs 2 in favour of it so far. Check out the track
"Hater" from the album, "The World is Gone" and decide for
yourself.

What you said is true about an awful lot of boomkat records
though. I just think, "this is such wank and this artist
will never be anything more than this."

The album is a mixed bag. Some tracks I really do love (Lost
is stunning for example), but others are just instantly
forgetable. I have all their releases though, and they do
fuse radically different styles to create some interesting
results.

But yeah, I do find a lot of their music to be pretty
souless when compared to someone like Burial for example. I
mean from listening to Burials album, you can really tell
that he put his heart and soul into the music... it is
clearly very personal, yet most people who listens to it can
find a connection.

i have all their releases in one form or another and i have
to say they appear good but only a small number of tracks
have lasting appeal.

they stay pretty much anonymous for reason, adam has a well
shady musical career see

what a dumb fucking word, dubstep.
bout as gay as illbient or click-hop.
i just want to cough out the word "poser" everytime i hear
it.

i don't have a problem w/ the style but, "dubstep", what a
shit way to refer to something.

as for Various Prod. i've heard all the of the sound samples
and it does nothing for me.

like it just sound like some "catchy" corporate word to
describe the mixing of the dub and 2-step genres. how
completely crap.

i do appreciate how the scene is booming though, i'm glad
there is some kind of living trend, but this term just
sounds like the queer image director of Entertainment
Tonight was lucky enough to discover the latest underground
electronic trend on one of his paid in full London fashion
trips where his chauffeur got lost and he ended up at a
party he didn't want to go to. its balls i tell you.

this is all XLR8R and Hatcha's falt. piss.
