[Off topic] Works xmas parties

I've got my work's xmas party tomorrow night and am looking
forwards to/dreading it in equal amounts. I missed it last
year, but the year before that I got wrecked and had a bit
of a tiff with my girlfriend (so she's not coming this
year).

Free bar & late hours drinking = free tongues = people who
hate each other talking bluntly = fights in the car
park/sackings/feuds that will last the rest of our
professional lives.

It's not really my style to use it as an opportunity to
brown nose or try to advance my career, so instead I'll be
having a few jars with the few people I consider proper
friends there and trying to steer clear of people who I may,
under the influence of alcohol, be be inclined to "speak my
mind" to.

Who has had their works bash so far? Anything especially
good/bad happen?

Work parties are always great. The combination of staff
hatred, sexual tension and alcohol make for a wicked time.
Sadly I haven't had to work for the past 3 years (uni) so
i've missed out bigtime.

Gonna go to the Julebord (work x-mas party) saturday, and
I'm really looking forward to it. Lots'a nice people and
pretty girls. I'm afraid that I'm gonna get too drunk
(normally happens when I'm looking this much forward to a
party), but I talked to a colleague today and he is gonna
work a 32 hour shift, and go directly to the party
afterwards. He also planned to be the drunkest guy at the
party like last year, when he fooled around with an old ugly
skank old enough to be his mother.

once at a staff party, i got really wankered and got in a
fight with a mate. he broke my nose. i told everyone they
could get fucked and i was leaving and stormed out and
crashed into a locked door. it wasnt my finest hour.
amazingly i kept my job, despite calling the boss a total
cunt several times and not turning up for work the next
shift. never again. yikes.

So your real life behaviour is quite distinct from your
on-line persona.

I wish i worked somewhere that was cool enough to have a
christmas party :( i don't think any of the people that work
there would ever get along outside work, so it would be
amazing to see what they would do at a social gathering like
this

it tends to be the company that organizes the party, it's
not some 'friends after work having a laugh' shit, that
doesn't work. blame your employers for not doing one.

i know, that's what i mean. I just work at a restaurant, so
we don't have enough people to get one together. hopefully
at some point i will have a job somewhere and get to
experience the magic of out of place christmas cheer!
