5th one reported missing. Obviously there is a chance that some of the newer missing persons reports are a result of panic/hoaxsters but three murdered so far is a bit of a problem. Maybe it is time that prostitution was made legal in Britain. I am aware of the issues around legalisation but I still think it would offer girls a safer option if they chose to take it. |

i was wondering when a thread on this would pop up. its just in time for christmas too! in regards to the legalising of prostitution i couldnt agree more. seeing a prostitute get dragged into a car and punched in the face by someone who i assume was her pimp made me feel that there has to be protection for women (and men) who are prostitutes. its the oldest profession in the world and will never be stopped so why not make it safer for everyone involved? |

Eh.. feminism, the way I was using it there, doesn't necessarily refer to any particular movement; women were in a sense feminists long before anyone went public about it. Women who were dissatisfied with the way things were. These were the more justified feminists.. today, most (aggressive) feminists are just self-stigmatising, but let's say you have three wives sitting around on a porch knitting way back in the days and one of them complains that her husband is so bad in bed and then they go all "why do we bother?" and one of them jokingly says "well.. prostitution is the oldest profession in the world" and then they laugh a bit and rock their rocking chairs as one of them finishes a mitten. |

it may not require special legislation, no, but they at least need to be included into, for instance, the normal.. eh.. I don't know if any translation of the title would work.. the part of the law that regulates conditions in the workplace like how long your employer can make you work, when you get overtime/extra late-night pay, how your workplace should be accessible for people who need a wheelchair and stuff like that. |
