Stephanie Tanner Surprise

Is there an official Stephanie Tanner Surprise thread, I
can't find one. Is their music among the GREATEST music ever
made? In my opinion, yes, yes it is.

I just took delivery of the album "Life as a kid" today, and
whilst I was already familiar with a few of the tracks I was
overpoweringly suprised to find the ENTIRE album is of equal
quality.

STS manages what BOC does WITHOUT, crucially, SOUNDING
ANYTHING LIKE BOC, and that it is bringing the past up into
the present without sounding "retro" or "like a nob". It's a
fucking tricky trick, but when it's pulled off, it's
astonishing.

THIS MAN KNOWS HIS ONIONS.

There's a lot of albums I would gladly give away before ever
handing this GEM over.

Well... I agree. It's aesthetically wholesome and
emotionally charged. Very good.

makes some good music.

What the hell is wrong with you, I'm in the armpit of the
world and the "music loads" fine.

The music doesn't load.. why don't you upgrade your piece of
shit computer or connection, how do you cope with the rest
of the net or do you labour under the suspicion that the
phenomenon we know as The Internet is just an overrated
collection of pages that say 404 Not Found.

This is some of the best stuff I've heard this year. I wish
this kind of electronica was still popular (as in being
signed to a label without second thought).

In the musical realm known as 'electronica', the word
dated should not exist. Everyones trying to 1up a
certain subgenre, or create whole new ones (unsuccessfully).
Admittedly the problem we're facing now is to be blamed on
the pioneers of electronia. You have artists like autechre
making this futurist music that instantly shifts the whole
production spectrum for artists. This results in the early
death of many other genres that still had LOTS of life left.
Fuck.

I agree again, 100%. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT.

I think Ae are perfcectly entitled in doing what they're
doing, obviously, and it's not suprising that a lot of
people, unsure of what they should be doing, go "Uh, what..
the .. beat.. I wanna do that.. I guess", but there is, as
Gwely says, still lots to do before everybody leaps
into the/a future. I appreciate anyone, and there's a lot of
people, that stay thoroughly relevant, without succumbing to
the hackneyed "fucked up" approach.

well gee, this thread was a nice surprise to say the least!

I apologize for the loading errors and 'visually disturbing
imagery' by the way :)

Thank you all for the warm comments, they are deeply
appreciated.. and much too kind. You guys are a good bunch,
and I thank you.

Also, I better enjoy seeing fleeting things like this while
they last:
