[help] My final year project

Just routing round because there are lots of clever people
on here. Im making a short film (written proposal and topic
review this term) about my own perception of the future, as
well human intuition on the whole. Im calling it a dystopian
mockumentry or somehing like that.
Trying to focus on how one perceives their surroundings and
how that can be applied within a visual/sonic constraint.
i've been looking into alot of visual generative software
like vvvv and jitter and how simple (or complex) shapes and
colors can give a varied range of emotions. Also looking at
this with sound. Synthaesthesia will no doubt play a big
part in it's outcome.
The idea is (in the future) one could tap into their brain
and actually create a real 'plane' from thier mind and
others can also explore these 'alternatives'? i guess you
can call them? with the obvious advance in technology and
all the rest.

Its the outcome of me reading 'only foward' and a feeling i
get whenever im really really ill with flu. a friend noted a
similar description: "huge boulders" which i instantly
got. I get a felling of massive pressure on a tiny pinpoint.
i like to describe it as a massive lump of blutach in both
texture and form resting on a toothpick, or needle.

the good thing is the project doesnt have to apply anything
to the excisting field. i.e. i dont have to make some super
duper interactive thing for the public thast the most
original idea in 69 million years. the end result is just me
making a film. Just wondering if anyone can help out with
either the subject matter, some cool short film guys you
know or just anything really. Oh yeah and im looking into
the architectural element of sound i.e. Ae , richard devine
etc etc. so any help there would be awsome too.

thank you.

and i want Drunken Mastah to post something at least.

Do all kinds of whizzy 3d graphics so it's all like
"wooooah", read up on Cygnus' theory on what the Uncanny
Valley doesn't mean.

"the good thing is the project doesnt have to apply anything

to the excisting field"

well, do something connected to reality instead and get a
job afterwards instead?

well essentially i was just wondering if anyone knew of any
cool shorts really. the final product is just going to be my
own vision with the best sound design/music i can muster up
(im doing music tech). I've just got to have some info on
the modern 'scene' as such

im doing a game audio module which is the field i would want
to get into so all my work in that will be on my basic cv.

a game audio module? what do they teach you in that that
doesnt apply to composing for any other medium? its an
interesting field with the ballooning budgets of games these
days meaning you can end up writing a hell of a lot of stuff
for one game you can also end up with an entire orchestra at
your disposal. thatd be fuckin brilliant.

sounds cool. how much of it is practical? being given a
brief to aurally populate a designed world would be a
mammoth task but a lot of fun i bet. the projects ive been
given this year are shit, composing to a brief (ie for
media) self promotion, radio programming, that kind of
stuff.

so you're just adding music to some clips and you want to
create some sort of feeling in the listener that he isn't in
his own world any more?

that sounds more like broadcasting media som people are
doing a similar module as well.

were using dim3, a mac only freeware level editor but its
all done with xml so codings a peice of piss. looks crap but
its really easy to implement shit you want.

yeah basiaclly the end result is going to be about my idea.
im not trying to acheive it. ive jsut got to make a good
sounding short film really. im sure people know a few cool
shorts?

like hopelessness and nihilism.

do you have to create any other game content then? im at a
music college rather then uni so im not doing anything like
this. ive been playing Black this morning and the amount of
individual sounds that have to be created for just a single
level of the game is just crazy.
