Only at the mention of his name and a search on IMDB do I realise how many of his films I've actually seen...

RIP Robert Altman. I remember the first time me and Bob met - it was at his Château in the south of France back in the late 70s. We were out back playing frisbee with him and Mike when a large flying disc floated into view from further along the valley.
"What the hell is that, Bob?" I cried.
He didn't say a word. He didn't have to.
Great guy.

Huh, I listened to CBC radio interview with him just a month ago, he was a really entertaining and interesting talker and talked about his weird directorial methods, cool guy. RIP.

Zombie Altman (for one month, mind).

My first and most likely last emoticon goes to the death of this great film maker.
:(
I think I will do my last class speech (as an eulogy) about him instead of an invective filled rant praising my antisocial-ism and hatred of mankind.

while making his last film (as far as I know) "A Home Prairie Companion", Paul Thomas Anderson was on standby all of the time to replace Altman if he had been incapacitated.
apparently he hadn't been in good health.
doesn't make it less sad, ofcourse.

They were constantly discussing death and mortality in that interview I heard. I tuned in halfway through and now I really wish I'd caught the lead-up, I didn't realize the context. He seemed really cavalier about it.

What I mean is, I wonder how they got to talking about that subject. You don't just ask a person ''so like how do you feel about dying?'' for no reason out of the blue.
And lol I make a lot of typos and delete stuff a lot lol

Although I know now, because he was dying, evidently. Because he's dead now. I just didn't know that then.

He has a time-share life now. One month he's a corpse in the ground, the next month he's a corpse OUT of the ground - he'll be embarking on a new career playing zombies in future Return of the Living Dead features, and a damn fine zombie he'll make.

He was so cool and open about it that I didn't even register that maybe he could have been talking about himself. But then I greatly fear the reaper and would have started crying if I was in that situation and then Eleanor Waktel would have had to hold me.

I've seen it and, sadly, I didn't like it that much. and I really like the radioshow "A Prairie Home Companion" and Garrison Keillor.
