i was going to post this in the youtube thread but it's too
good;

The reactable, is a multi-user electronic music
instrument with a tabletop tangible user interface. Several
simultaneous performers share complete control over the
instrument by moving physical objects on a luminous table
surface. By moving and relating these objects, representing
components of a classic modular synthesizer, users can
create complex and dynamic sonic topologies, with
generators, filters and modulators, in a kind of tangible
modular synthesizer or graspable flow-controlled programming
language.

This instrument is being developed by a team of digital
luthiers (Sergi Jordà, Martin Kaltenbrunner, Günter Geiger
and Marcos Alonso), at the Music Technology Group within the
Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain.

The technology is some of the coolest shit i've seen in a
long long while, but what they do with it sounds pretty
uninspired

Give one to Richard.

I saw something similar once, a friend sent to me. It was
this bar , where the table reacted like that one when you
put something one it. The surface under every object you
placed on the bar would glow, and draw lines to the other
stuff on the bar.

Neat! It's probably going to be accisible in the very near
future.
