the new deftones album has quite a few great tunes but is
weighed down by the atrocious 'pink cellphone'.

album? nah, lot's of great tracks, but no whole
album...yet.

(James Holden's remix of "the darkest star" by depeche mode
is still the best release of 2006)

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2006-11-01 20:29 [#01996440]

too early to say really, but there has been some decent
stuff.

Toshi Nakamura and Keith Rowe- Between (this is prolly the
best in my books, but i'll reserve the right to change my
mind)

Gunter Muller and Norbert Moslang- Wild_Suzuki

Kai Fagaschinski and Bernhard Gal- Going Round in
Serpentines

Lionel Marchetti- Red Dust

Coil- Black Antlers (officiallike)

i do like Rather Ripped quite a bit, but i don't think its
amazing through and through.

rap has been pretty disappointing so far this year. i was
really hoping Trae's new album would be good, but it pales
in comparison to last year's Later Dayz... and the Pimp C
album isn't quite up to snuff either.

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2006-11-01 20:31 [#01996441]
Points: 5437 Status: Regular | Followup to DeadEight: #01996440

i certainly hope i can come up with something a lot more
diverse when the year is officially out... actually both
Sandro Perri related discs from this year (Glissandro 70 and
Sandro Perri plays Polmo Polpo) are pretty damn good.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2006-11-01 21:00 [#01996443]

i see you went quite experimental again..some nice picks
there..

i just remembered my fav could also be toure's
'savane'..such an ace album..

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2006-11-01 23:39 [#01996449]

yeah i know. but i don't know what the hell else to say. i
mean it takes a while to sort out the better stuff closer to
the middle. most of the stuff i've heard so far isn't making
me jump out of my skin or anything. when it comes to pop i
think i'm too busy catching up on older stuff.

actually that TV on the Radio album is pretty nice, but it
still frustrates me a bit sometimes.

hell i just finished listening that trentemoller - last
resort thing

damn fine album - good choice for the best one.

I think it was something like £150 a head for
this place. As well as the dolphins I was in a huge pool
with thousands of fish, hundreds of sting rays and sharks
and barracudas (behind glass).

even though it's not an album, Justice's Waters of Nazareth
single rocked the face off of anything else that i heard
this year.

that and daft punk's coachella 2006 set were the "albums" i
listened to the most this year.

(ps the eraser bored me to tears.)

in 2006 (seems like longer than that)

Get the free version seeing as the "record company" hasn't
given me a penny
