I don't write much on these forums, but.. I'm drunk and nostalgic now :p
Art of Noise : "Who's Afraid of.." is like the first ""idm"" to me..
..the album sounds "intelligent" to me, and it was the first "experimental" thing I heard..
I was 12 years old, in a german hotel (1985) and heard a track of this album, and I was like, ehh, I dunno how I was like, but it was the first time I heard some "weird/experimental" electronic music.. and blah blah, I might just be pathetic and nostalgic, but, I lost that vinyl years ago, and I just downloaded it now, and.. well, I got nostalgic..
(I know I'm old, and alot of you are like "my first electronic album was aphex twin" or something) ;)

It's one of the greatest albums of ALL TIME. Have you seen this new box set which contains all demos, outtakes and alt versions from that album, 4 CDs!
And What Have You Done With My Body, God?

I bought this last year and enjoyed it alot, although I haven't listened to it in a while.. They were one of those bands that I kicked myself for not being into years ago though.
I had 'Daft' in my hands a couple days ago but passed it up, regrettably. How is that? Or, if not that, which one should I buy? I seem to remember Grinning_Belch and others having very mixed feelings on their output, primarily because what 'their' means changed over the years.

I can imagine that it sounds "silly/kitch" today (their later pop-hits are silly to me) ..but 50% of their first album is still good in my ears.. the track "who's afraid" was what I heard in germany, heh, almost the weirdest track of the album, and I got into it right away, hm.. I must have been a weird kid :p
ok, enough nostalgy.. what are they doing now? I only know (or think I know) that one of them are female, and she made most of the tracks (I'm too lazy to look it up)

I was serious, but,... arhh, I don't know how to explain it... It does'nt sound "new", and the production/composing are not like today, so I would understand if some "newschool fan" said that it sounds stupid and old (which it is, ofcourse.. old, not stupid, hehe)
