Um, they're both pretty necessary in my opinion. So I vote
for both.

i think id get a 4control (seeing i'm using only software at
this point in time) .. but yeah .. 'tis a bit of a fiddle
compared to ^that beast .. which would mean no fiddly change
of settings etc..

Only problem is its unconfigurable, but it works for more
and more equipment. I use it to twiddle soundfonts on my SB
Live

I just saw a little thing, that it can't be used with
Cubase, which seems an awful downer imo. [seeing i use
cubase :)] ..

A combination of the two, hardware linked to a PC. Guess
that negates my vote :(

Software, I woujld love to have some knobs though. What are
your guys experiences using things like the phatboy? Is it
better to get that to use with softsynths or get some
hardware synths?

hmm...

i just want a box, with in and out (can be merged), some
faders and knobs, a display for the actually programm and
other infos... but it most be configurable...phatboy seems
to be a fake i think...

taoist, definately softsynths, the most of hardware
synthesizers has own knobs, fadders and potis for every
parameter, like the virus or modular..

Though I would still like to have a few sexay synths to
stand around playing in my briefs, dressing gown, and
aviator glasses.
