i dont always consider street art to be the same as graffiti
though most often it is connected.

some of the best painters are in crews SDK, VIMOAS, MSN,
T?C, TMA, TPG.

some personal favorites: honet, inxs, opak, osey, vino,
pone, cece, eror, kegr, seb, pum, heal and the list goes
on..

some of holland's greatest street art and graffiti comes
from SOL crew.

And didn't i recommend you that book 'art of rebellion'? i
thought you said you were going to steal it.

and dave, i hate to break it to you but none of the artists
you mentioned are street artist ;P

They paint murals at daytime in full visibility and always
allowed by the police and in some cases they're even paid
for it.

Street art and 'real' graffiti is and will always be
illegal. This is why what banksy does is so interesting. He
provokes yet attracts a huge audience, getting people to ask
themselves 'is this vandalism or art?' but the government
just 'know' they can't condone his actions, whether his work
appeals to them or not, because it is graffiti.

by the way, i wore your electro shirt to the panoptica
festival and now it smells like smoke.

you are very right, but i am very much on the other side-im
35 and havent got time to be running down railways doing
dubs.
im a great fan of banksy, hes a genius and great artist, but
on a skill level he doesnt come anywere near daim.
for me its all about skill and style, thats why i
recommended
who i did.
now get your t shirt washed young man.

"Street art and 'real' graffiti is and will always be
illegal", i don't fully agree there. it's a romantic thought
but the only thing distinguishing it is that its done as an
act of vandalism. to me thats not a valid description of an
entire artform. don't get me wrong, i've been an "illegal"
writer for years, but i can't justify vandalism morally or
politically.

i think youve said it best, ive been a legal artist for
around 15 years.
im sure as shit still a graff artist, and if a writer can
make money from his work its a great thing.
ha imagine going up to Seen and telling him hes a sellout.
oh lordy.

Banksy used to be good. Now he's changed and is all about
getting in the papers again. He's a fucking cock. He's
forgotten what he used to do and why he did it.
