Max Richter - Songs From Before

OK, this album is really, really good. I had heard his name
dropped a few times over the past few years, but I always
cringe at anything dubbed "modern classical". But this works
for me. The strings, ambient sounds, and melodies are really
beautiful, and the whole album is just effortlessly easy to
listen to from start to finish. My only gripe is the spoken
word bits, but thankfully they only tend to last a few
seconds.

the name seems very familiar [...] of course, he's the guy
who provided piano recording for "max" on "dead cities" by
FSOL. i should check this album

The first track "song" is my favourite at the moment.

As it happens, we were the only ones who didn't have a
beard. Even the women had wicked goatee's.

I'm certainly gonna try. My tutor from uni digs the freaky
stuff too, so if I can get a lift down with him, i'm
sorted.

I really want to go to that UR night. Perhaps even more so
than the AE event *gasp*

i just gave the album another listen. very short but sounds
like a soundtrack to a good but a bit sad film.

i'm gonna check his previous albums, but not "blue
notebooks", as i've read it contains spoken word/recited
poetry. that's not my thing. i'll skip to "memoryhouse"
instead.

check blue notebooks it's very good, it cointains spoken
stuff but it's not the the rule.

I like his music because it can be pretty and sad but never
so sad that I feel unhappy.
