 | I get the distinct feeling we're not getting even half of what actually is going on in that story.

maybe the school was looking for a reason to get rid of that
teacher for some reason. not that that makes it less
ridiculous, but surely there's more to this than what is
 told.

 | for thoze of you who dont know, frisco TX is an extremey small town inside of dallas (where i live). it's basically a
suburb. the frisco indepenedent school district is just a
handful of people. its only somewhere in the area of 30
schools total - and its brand new, too. that place has only
been inhabited as widely as it is now for less than 10
 years..

anyways, that school administrations decision making
process probably only takes a few minutes and is up to just
a few people - compared to Dallas ISD where the decision
wouldve had to go through thousands of people and taken
weeks probably... it worked aggainst the art teacher that
only a few people are actually in charge there

Shit, all those Kurds gassed by Saddam's baathist regime,

and so on etc.etc. must be well fucking grateful they don't
live in a society that constructively dismisses a teacher by

 | The fact this incident took place does not imply that America isn't free. This is a decision made by a small group
of individuals in a small place in a big country. There are
 actions available to the woman.

I mean it could be argued that the school board have elected
via democratic decision to exercise their free will in not
 renewing this teachers contact.

 | absolutely, and cygnus's comments have shed light on the matter.

i just think you'd be very, very hard-pushed to find people
in Europe coming to the conclusion that some sort of action
needed to be taken after an art teacher took children to
such an exhibition. I can't imagine any parents having any
 problems with it.

 And I really don't think that's a generalisation.

 | I don't see how saying "it depends on how arrogant and ignorant americans have managed to be on that particular
day" is any better than saying something like "it depends on
how arrogant and ignorant Jews/blacks/asians have managed to
 be on that particular day."
