lol

USA is still fucking awesome despite their shitty leaders
and religious blowhards. It still has the potential to lead
the rest of the world by example, rather than bombing the
shit out of them.

i'm quite surprised to see this turn into a redrum
bash-fest.

the guy can not be blamed for painfully confronting us with
the horror that is america and its idiotic people. Articles
like this one should be discussed, not ignored.

Even if this particular incident was small scale, i still
dont think it's generalizing to say that this sort of stuff
almost always happens in the U.S.

The fact that it happened in a small town is hardly an
excuse.

The left just hates the US because it kicked the asses of
those Soviet Union homos.

This is why it is called NEWS.

Or a very small helicopter.

i agree, it's silly, and it happened in Texas, which does
not surprise me since I live here. Texas is a highly
conservative state (I'm not) so this incident should come as
no surprise.

Also, the article doesnt say that the teacher was fired for
the museum trip. And there is evidence elsewhere on the
internet that says that she wasn't suspended for this, just
for being a bad teacher.

You seem to very strongly attached to the common leftist
fallacy that America is inherently bad, and the source of
all the world's problems.

it's not the source of all the world's problems..

as for me being attached to "common leftist fallacies", i
don't know about that, but i can say that i agree with
probably 90% of this article.

it's of no relevance to me what you think of my political

If you made as many posts critisizing, say, black people
(for arguments sake) as you do Americans, while stating that
you don't hate all of them, you wouldn't expect to be
called racist? You seem to make a shitload of threads about
the excesses of the christian right in the US and lable the
threads "America...."

The thing is right, it's possible to be TOO LIBERAL, like
making kids look at gay sculpture, and stuff like that,
yeah, so I say, where do you draw the line, you know, in the
Kids / Sexy Sculpture debate?

Don't get me started on sexually depraved statues of
kids.

Europe is definetly more relaxed about sex and the human
body. I think its great. We need to loosen up and be more
upset over people getting murdered instead of laid.

I was just talking to a friend from Germany today about how
American ideas of European sexuality are misguided, and
Americans believe Europeans to be a lot more relaxed about
sex than they are.

Small sample, I know, but this thread is full of crazy
coincidences.

i agree that it's messed up when public opinion of sex is
lower than of violence... i mean, how can conservatives
generally be pro-life on abortion but have no qualms about
people getting killed (in movies/television at least) later
in life, whatsoever?

I have been very anti american in my days, but i stopped it
now. I love some parts of Aamerica, i despise others.

The thing about America is, it's just big. Huge. Gigantic.
No european really grasps completely, how big it is.

So in a country that big, a lot of fucked up shit is bound
to happen!

You cant hate America as a nation, thats just wrong.

offline goodhands team from bloomington (United States) on 2006-10-12 23:48 [#01986362]
Points: 361 Status: Regular

on the contrary, i think you can hate on america - bc our
fucked up shit becomes other countries fucked up shit. not
only does a gigantic amount of our population have NO access
to health care - we drop [AND SELL] 500lb laser guided bombs
and similar such weaponry all over. we are easily the most
militant nation in history [we just cleared $427.6Billion
for the pentagon like it was milk money]. it just so
happens that our government does a really good job of hiding
that little fact from its citezenry with little levers and
bells and whistles. the way they tell it - we HAVE to bring
freedom to the rest of the world or a nuclear bomb will blow
up in our back yard. or some similar shit.

its ok to blow some brown skinned childs head off - but its
"tasteless" to show a picture of it in print or tv press.
and yeah - these "pro-life" "culture of life" bible toting
conservatives seem to be ok w/ executions and wars. so i
guess thou shalt kill. even though thou shalt not.

if only iraqis were a bunch of embryos or a bunch of inutero
foeti slithering around - maybe the war plans would have
never been drawn up.

but the deal is this: america does do a lot of good things
[mostly to feed our own self interests] and it almost always
has to do w/ money. thats all we know how to do - through
money at things. even though we dont really have any if we
had to cough up what we fucking owe.

in america, 43,200 people die a year in car wrecks. thats
about 40 thousand times more than the lives that terrorism
claims.

?!

but alas, this ship has sailed. this empire is on its way
out [notice usa sucking chinas weewee w/ the nkorea
resolution at the un]. much like the republicans, our
conduct and policies will inevitably be our own undoing.

while we are not the source of all the worlds problems - we
are the self appointed world problem solvers. as such, we
shouldnt be creating more than we are "solving" now should
we? especially when it comes to exporting "freedom" &
"liberty." [by force]
