that seems to be the case in my locality, they panhandle for money, sometimes they will follow you all over the place talking about how hungry they are and if you offer them a bite to eat instead of the cash they asked for, they make some kind of excuse as to why they only want money. i'm certainly not opposed to giving away loose change but i never carry cash so i rarely have it, anyway. because of this, my encounters with the homeless are usually kind of unpleasant on both ends. but anyway i totally support the funding of social programs to cope with this problem. |

there's nice singing homeless people by my university, i give them money. otherwise i don't bother. it always seems like the minorities that work harder at it though. like the other day there was this black guy singing his lungs out so i gave him $3, and about half a block away this white guy was just sitting there in an empty storefront shouting at people for some change. i didn't give him anything. |
