Rare Reload/Link/Global Communication

These guys have made so much great music, but apart from
'76:14', a lot of it is hard to get hold of. I have 'Theory
of Evolution', 'Jedi Selector', 'Remotion', '76:14'.
'Antacid', and a Slowdive remix. These are all terrific. I
still need to cough up the obligatory £30 each for 'A
Collection of Short Stories' and 'Pentamerous Metamophosis',
but does anyone know anything about their other stuff? I
don't know anyone who has any of the early Link, Reload
singles, and the Jedi Knights LP is only available for
massive sums. Really I'm just wondering, am I wrong in
thinking these guys have been badly neglected over the years
(compared to Aphex and Autechre), should I keep hunting for
the remainder of their discography, and what do other people
think of them? I know 76:14 is highly regarded - even in the
indie scene - but no-one speaks about their other releases.

I've said it before, but I really find 76:14 pretty dull,
there are a few good tracks but overall it's a bit too
fluffy, but when it comes to the reload stuff, it's a whole
different matter, the eps and short stories album is by far
their best work, and not forgetting the antacid ep.

That's interesting. They've certainly done a lot of stuff in
different genres, and the 76:14 stuff is only one side of
them. I would really like to get hold of The Biosphere,
Amenity, Animus etc and see what I've missed from the early
records. And you're right about Antacid - what a track.

in all fairness, sublime creation off the keongaku ep (and
the 76:14 reissue) is one of my alltime favourite ambient
techno piece. so good I got the recent reissue of that 12"
twice - ok then, i thought one had disappeared in transit so
I had to re-order it

I wasn't keen on the Jedi Knights "New Skool Science" album,
to be fair, a bit too comedy electro for me. Though there's
a couple of good tracks. The "May the funk be with you"
single was enough for me. THAT'S JUST ME.

Reload's "A Collection of Short Stories" is A LOST CLASSIC,
still sounds great, and a concept techno album.

Apparently, the evolution/universal sound back catalogue is
gonna be repressed, so hold on a little longer before
spending big money on the originals.

76 14 is a classic, mainly because it works well as an
album, but also has some truly stunning tracks on it. But
i'm a fan of all their work, and pretty much collect
everything. Mark Pritchard in particular is one of the
greatest producers alive today in my opinion.

I like Theory of Evolution a lot, even though it has given
me one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.
