Thankyou to Phobiazero for banning me for a full week, for
asking what was going on with all the banning on this forum.

I realise now what had happened: He had told the users of
this forum not to mention a certain user's name - for
reasons that were not clear to me at the time - but on
subsequent research I discovered that some kind of problem
had occurred with the aforementioned user and that
Phobiazero was angry about the incident. I foolishly asked a
question about the incident, and my question included the
user's name, which enraged Phobiazero and resulted in my
temporary ban.

I feel humbled by this episode, and I shall never ignorantly
type that user's name again. Let my punishment be a lesson
to all future users of this forum, who may also foolishly
walk into the trap of asking a question that includes a
banned name, resulting in their own temporary banning. We
are all brothers here, and we can get through this. It just
takes a little care, repair and love. I'd also like to add
that I am very grateful for the cards and flowers many of
you sent me during my banned time.

Well, if this post gets me a ban, it means it is proved
right, and you've all got something to think about.

this

Well, it certainly gave me time to think about whether it's
worth bothering to contribute to a community moderated in
such an emotionally volatile way.

I certainly don't agree with zero moderation, because if
people are using the forum to spread racism or other
unacceptable stuff, they deserve a ban. But there was truth
in my post above - I literally accidentally offended the
head admin by asking what had happened (i wasn't around here
to witness whatever had happened at the time) and by simply
enquiring about it, i got a ban. That's a very trigger-happy
reaction and more to the point, hypocritical, because the
incident in question turns out to have been something to do
with a former mod on a banning spree.

but we're getting there.

This subject will never end this way... like me a lot of
users don't exactly know what happened. By deleting/banning
users who try figure what really happend is just admitting
the power/impact he had. Plus it's hypocrite to ban users
who don't actually know what they are talking about.

Am I facing the ban now because I spoke about the troll who
is getting a much more super status this way.. it's
ridiculous!

i actually agree. too many times things are allowed to get
out of hand, and without any warnings bombs explode and
heads roll. we need more warnings and less rolling heads.
it's just silly to see a mod get a perm ban.
there was probably a lot more going on than i'm aware of,
and there were perfectly reasonable reasons for things
happening the way they did, but still. it wouldn't hurt if
things were done a bit less 'effective' (read: abrupt). at
least, that way we can see a bit more of the how and why
instead of the "huh? what? wtf is going on?"

Yes it is Phobiazero's site but he won't have much fun
playing with it alone once he's banned every member because
they asked an innocent question or mentioned an ex-member's
name.
