especially those hallucinogenic (sp?) drugs.. I just want
to know if you've had "trips" or whatever you call it where
you hallucinate and actually believe it to be true or
happening, or if you usually can distinguish between
hallucination and reality? I don't want tips on drugs (I'm
not going to take them), but I am curious as to their effect
and the sense of reality in your experiences.. I am also
aware that you don't necessarily see giant porcupines eating
blimps with licorice on or anything like that, but that
things can be more like just stuff appearing to change size
or colour, etc, and I will include such "basic" things in
"hallucination."

They sort of enhance emotions rather than create them. It's
like a feedback loop: you feel a certain way, the drug makes
it stronger, you feel that way more intensely, and so on.
Like you're on ecstacy, and a song you love comes on, that
makes you peak even harder. You get paranoid on weed, about
getting caught or whatever, the weed makes you shit it even
worse. The weirdest one was coke for me, it completely
shattered my attention span, I wanted to dance, then 30
seconds later I wanted to talk to my mates, then I wanted to
check my hair, then get a drink, then stare at girls, and
then of course, do more coke.
Most drugs are like alcohol, there's the rational guy
inside, thinking and there's the drooling nutter on the
outside insisting very loudly that he's perfectly sober.

it's something that makes you feel nice.

(it's basically a bit better weed and you'll die of lung
cancer later then casual weed)

I've expierenced many hallucinations on LSD and Psilocybin
mushrooms. You sort of have to let go and let the trip take
you where it will. If you fight it you're gonna have a bad
time, and it's that simple.

I've never taken so much of either drug that I "forgot" i
was on a hallucinatory substance... Always in the back of my
mind I know I will be sober again within hours.

As far as the visuals themselves... the main thing I see is
a complex three dimensional multicolored pattern that shifts
and twists and zooms in and out and is constantly changing.

Since my first time doing acid these "patterns" in my field
of vision have never entirely left, even when I'm sober. I
can see them right now when I look for them. Most of the
time they are barely noticeable but once in awhile I'm smoke
a bit of weed or something and the colors will start to come
out more clearly. I guess this is what some people call a
"flashback." You get used to it though.

I've seen pleantly of other crazy shit going on but it would
take a long time to type all of it out....

You can hallucinate and believe those hallucinations to be
real. From my experience it requires heavy doses of certain
drugs and usually occured for me with combinations of drugs.
And it's not so much visual hallucinations (although they
occur) but rather "changes in the total reality of
being"......... i won't go into the messy details.

I don't do any drugs now.

I used to have bad reactions to ibuprofen, if I would go to
sleep or wake up while I had recently had it, I would get a
terrible trip. I'd scream and break shit, see cartoons
attacking me, etc. These have toned down, but I still get
them mildly, a couple of days ago I had to leave my dorm
because I thought my ceiling was going to crush me.

And though I have never had a good hallucination, I still
really want to try hallucinogens (I haven't.). I can get
about any other type of drug, but I live in a place where
hallucinogens are rare.

Rostasky, given your bad history with hallucinations I would
strongly recommend NEVER touching a hallucinagenic drug. You
might never quite come down from it.

I can see it pretty well too when I smoke herb. It is
basically a centered fractal right there in my visual field;
it's green/red/and not as noticable blue (eyes don't have as
many blue receptor cells). I wonder what it is about the
brain that produces that effect. I've only really tripped
twice.

reality is what you perceive it to be when on chemical
substances or off of them

courage is like a drug - if youre under the influence of
courage you can do a lot, its a drug that many people should
do more

I don't think anyone has an answer as to what it is. The
people that think they do have had their brains so fried
from hard hallucinagen use that I'm afriad to find out.

One I was on about 3 grams of shrooms the patterns were out
in full effect...

I took a hit of Nitrous Oxide (something I never mess with
anymore) and zoomed ALL the way in to the fractal. It was
basically circle upon circle upon circle, each layer moving
a different direction (one going clockwise, another going
counter) and surrounding the circles were elephants
interlocking by their trucks.

The detail is really amazing.

I had a trip in wich i had a serious paranoid attack, i
tought that I was screaming every little tought that I had,
even when i had my hands covering my mouth, i still have
that paranoia every now and then (that people can hear my
toughts), stupid acid it screwed my life, more. It does feel
real but it's not, the best description is that it's like
you're dreaming. after some days you remember is exatly like
when you remember a weird dream. only that you don't know
exactly what did or did not happen.

taking drugs is a completely personal experience. Its never
the same twice. Gwely's trip report is awesome
Its wierd how people talk about drug with such a withdrawn
sense. Everyone does drugs, yet its spoken about as this
thing that "other" people do.

The most I've hallucinated was in January last year during a
moving out party for my mate Wayne.

We got a load of E's in and just to be sure - £140 worth of
Ketamine.

I was so fucked, green vines started to crawl up all the
walls, engulfing the entire room. With the end of each track
on the cd player, the vines would retreat, to be replaced by
new vines for the new track.
My friend Mikey became (in my eyes) a game show host of some
sort.

After a while (about 9 hours) of this I started puking up,
finally coming round on the bathroom floor.
At this point I thought I was seven hoops of flesh being
thrown at a wooden post in the middle of some deserted
landscape.

Whenever I end up doing hallucinogenics, I always find there
is a plant theme involved, Often it's that all the people in
the room are part of a plant or something.

My favourite experiences were when I managed to put the
front room of about 15-20 people on "pause" for a couple of
minutes, also the time I thought I met Jesus in my
downstairs toilet. After a few minutes of being amazed at
meeting this dude, I realised that it was just a patch of
light on the wall. I immediately returned to the front room
for more Ketamine.

never. I have enough with the mild migraine and bloodsugar
halluciniations I sometimes get (stuff sticks to my field of
vision like a piece of broken glass that follows where I
look).

wolfslice: whoah.. so it's like a kind of tinnitus
hallucination?

rostasky: "it still feels real, though": yeah, that
was mainly what I was wondering, but I see it wasn't
particularly easy to see that from my initial post.. I just
heard those things about people being afraid of what they
see, and you said you had to leave your dorm room because
you thought your roof was going to crush you.. that must've
implied some kind of reality to the experience and that you
were unable to properly distinguis it...

blobula: were they really weird or were the things that
happened in them things that could have happened?

cygnus: I may be a non-reductionist, but I still believe
that the brain handles information, and the drugs do
affect things in the brain and the whole "reality is what
you percieve" plays out quite a bit differently from what
people normally think it does.

that's common with low blood sugar, actually... I've had it.
It's also accompanied with everything sounding like it's
screaming (yes, even "natural" sounds or inanimate objects
that make sound) and you keep going "shhhhh" inside your
head, but I am always aware that I just need to eat, and
it'll go away.

control or believed it was the reality. People that do are
usually unhinged before they take the drugs.
