Suppose you've only got money for one album purchase this
month... waht it going to be?

Clark or Squarepusher?

From the sounds of the samples I'm voting Clark

seeing as though you're voting clark i'm going to assume
you've heard mp3s of both albums, but that begs the
question, if you're voting clark, why the hell are you
asking us?

i have no idea, i like the body riddle much better, but it's
just such a ripoff of what other artists have done. not a
fan of either really.

his album.

From what I've heard both are utterly underwhelming. In
these days of Cultural Saturation, Electronic music has to
be pretty exceptional for me to be willing to give you my
money for it, but I appreciate kids'll buy fucking anything,
so good luck to them. The artists behind two tired rehashes
will not be getting my money however to stick up their
noses.

Plotinus is such a class A track that it would have to be
squarepusher based on that track alone.

The Pusher album is up for listen on bleep.

Jenkinson seems to be going the Analord rout and going back
to the very basics. not a very exciting album.

Clark has a few good tracks on the new one esp: vengeance
drools
and roullete thrift run.

Im not that happy with the Clark release but It really beats
Jenkinsons release that comes across as halfassed in my
opinion, compared to what he has done before.

I'm looking more forward to the next Amon Tobin release and
the Distance release on Mu.

I like the jazziness to both but they arent very
stimulating.

I listened to Hello Everything for the third time tonight,
and I must say it gets better with every listen. Some of
the melodic stuff in the first 2/3's of the album is so
gorgeous --his best by a mile in that regard, for me at
least. I start getting bored when Welcome to Europe starts
(low point of the album for me). But I love everything that
comes before it.

If i had to pick one, I'd go with Clark. I'm really excited
about the direction he's taking his music. I really like
Empty the Bones of You all the way through, and from what
I've heard of his new stuff, it's even stronger. With
Squarepusher the shoddy production often bugs me when i'm
listening in headphones, but with Clark my ears stay happy.

body riddle feels like a solid album that flows well; good
theme of sounds.

but

I really like the music in Plotinus, but on the version I
have (which may be unmastered) it sounds like he didn't even
bother to mix it. It's like he didn't care enough about it,
despite putting so much detail into the synth parts.

Theme from Sprite, Planetarium and Circlewave 2 are all
beautiful, really amazing pieces. Those are possibly my
three favorite Squarepusher tracks right there. Though i
love his insane drill work on a few of the Go plastic
tracks. Comparing that with this really is like comparing
apples with oranges. They're jaw dropping for different
reasons.

the version on bleep seems just as .. unmixed.
i was hoping the released version would sound better but i
guess i should just get used to it, cos it really threw me
off as well.

Clark or Squarepusher?

hm... it's a tough choice... clark is much sexier, but of
course squarepusher has that rugged genius persona... i
think i'd rather bang clark only because the moodiness would
be a turnoff and i don't like being pushed out of bed. but
really, either one is kinda hot.

he is making me little trinkets of affection to plant in our

I'm giving the []pusher its first listen.... there are some
serioulsy cheesy lead synth noodling moments in there
(planetarium!)

i'm still thinking clark is holding out stronger

The Clark album is a mixed bag... on one hand its obvious he
put a lot of time and love into it, but it just sounds....
boring in places (for lack of a better word). Call me a pop
tart, but I do love Ted though.

Hello Everything on the other hand instantly got my
attention from the very first track. And it is a great
album, with some truly superb moments.

So yeah. Squarepusher for sure. But I still love the
Clarence Park piano pieces, and a few other Clark tracks
from his past releases.
