haha, shit...this track is fucking brilliant. I wasn't expecting it...Pharoahe Monch was the ghost writer (it's completely obvious), Puff imitates his flow over a Havoc beat...but it is actually good...very good (at least I think so)

on it! been watching something that at first made me think america had gone way more bonkers than usual.. I thought it was one of those presidential debates between candidates or something and for some reason, both of the candidates were actors (one was hawkeye from MASH, and the other was that weird slick-looking mexican or native american actor guy I keep seeing in b-movies), and the debate was going off in wild directions, and I was all "what the fuck?!" and then at the end the credits came, and I realised it was just an episode of "west wing" or something like that!

oh, definately! this is pharoahe all the way! He didn't even need to ghostwrite it, he could just rap it himself... what sucks, though, is that just because it's diddy it'll probably sell more than what it would if pharoahe released it on his own... sounds like a good track, though.. I like the idea of doing the beat from crowd cheering (that's what it sounds like at least).

He's probably make more money from the writing credits on it than he has made from anything he has released himself. Plus as he will get quite a bit of publicity on the back of this I am hoping it will catapult him into the stratosphere where he belongs.

yeah, maybe.. but then you got people who only listen to "gangsta" and think that diddy is gangsta while pharoahe is "alternative" and they'll never listen to his music anyway, and they'll probably ignore the fact that this track could've been pharoahe all the way without major differences (except for a cooler voice)...

It's where you're famous, but shit at music and you get someone who is good at music (but often not famous- although sometimes the ghostwriter is famous) to write "your" stuff. You just sing it/ponce around in the video a bit and pay the ghostwriter behind the scenes.
You then get the credit for developing a new style/direction of your genre, when in reality, all you've done is taken something underground and used your fame to popularise it.
All strictly IMO, of course.
