I don't know if non-brits know the phrase, sweet fuck all
or sweet f.a. but it has an interesting history. Some of you
may know that the original phrase is actually sweet fanny
adams, but who was this fanny adams?

let me guide you back to July 1867 to the sleepy town of
Alton, Hampshire, England, where a young clerk by the name
of Frederick Baker became prey to his psychosis and lured a
young eight-year old girl by the name of Fanny Adams to a
hop garden, where he raped, mutilated and dismembered her,
and spread her remains over such a wide area, that the new
slang term, "sweet fanny adams" came into being, meaning
"nothing".

Another seemingly innocent expression with darkly macabre
origins.

Tune in next week when the phrase "bloody mary" is
explained!
