For those who are interested, the conference just ended.
Some news:
Halo
- A Halo RTS developed by Age of Mythology creators Ensemble Studios is on its way. Looks badass, no ingame footage but a very nice pre-rendered trailer.
- Peter Jackson came onstage and mentioned development of a new Halo series that focused on a sort of "interactive movie" type of experience. Not sure what to expect, so stay tuned I guess. He's developing it with Bungie. He also mentioned new intellectual property being developed between them.
GTA 4
- GTA 4 will receive 2 episodes of Xbox 360-exclusive content shortly after its launch in Nov 07.
HD-DVD
- The HD-DVD player will launch this year in the US/UK/Germany/France at £129/€199/$199. Other regions will receive the units next year.
- Limited offer of bundles with Peter Jackson's King Kong in HD-DVD format and the Xbox 360 Mutltimedia Remote (the big one).
Bioshock
- New Bioshock trailer, prerendered stuff. Looks scary. A few fights with some Big Daddies and a lot of screaming. This game is worth keeping an eye on.
Gears of War
- CliffyB demoed a bit from the singleplayer game. Not much happening, just some duck/cover gameplay and a nasty, bloody chainsawing close-up at the end of the demonstration. Very pleasant graphics, although they haven't really divulged much in the gameplay area yet. Coming Nov the 12th in the US and Nov the 17th in the UK.
Viva Piñata
- Microsoft's attempt at reaching out to kids. The graphics are great, but the theme song is fucking annoying. I'm clearly not the target audience here.
Assassin's Creed
- Ubisoft's Hashshashin simulator, live gameplay test for the public. Looking fucking amazing, probably one of the prettiest games I've ever seen. The aim is basically to assassinate important figures and getting away with it. Some very interesting gameplay features introduced. Dynamic crowds allow you to blend in for stealth's sake.

The original DOOM is now available on Xbox Live.
The full conference will also be available shortly. I'm betting there are some pretty sweet standalone demos/videos queued up for the fans too. I think Xbox Live Gold is free until the end of X06 as well, which is in a few days.

Yes, Assassin's Creed looks so fucking good, makes the demise of the Thief series much easier to accept. I love stealth games.
Bioshock I've got mixed feelings on... the 15 minute demo looked cool but a bit goofy compared to System Shock. The whole ''faction of different creatures'' thing was more ''WTF?'' than ''OMG!''. The whole art-deco underwater city thing is awesome though.
They also mentoined Banjo Kazooie is coming to 360. I was never a fan of the N64 games, they were too cloying. Hopefully the new one has some chutzpah.

Banjo Kazooie was an amazing game. I forgot to mention that, it was the intro, basically. They didn't show the 15 minute demo of Bioshock, just a prerendered trailer. I don't see the "WTF?" factor of the factions, though.

Because of Bioshock's pedigree, I guess I expected something creepier or something, but the ''enemies'' just seemed strange to me. The little kid things especially sounded annoying and the whole bloodsucking thing was dumb. But it was just a clip anyway, it's not like I know enough about these factions to judge them anyway. Just first impressions.

Gears of War is the game all the 360 owners are up in arms about - i'm not the biggest shooter fan, but it seems like the must-have this season, though Bioshock looks promising. They're also bringing a version of Half-Life 2 to the 360, hopefully it will pull off more than the Xbox version did.
My current faves on 360 have to be Hitman: Blood Money (i love stealth games too) and Dead Rising, which is brilliant. Assassin's Creed does look amazing - the gameplay and the setting seem like an original mix (Crusades-era England and stealth gameplay as opposed to usual medieval slash-fests). Oh, and the game is gorgeous.
I'm likely not gonna waste money on a ps3 - with the money it costs for one i could buy a 360 and a Wii - which i plan on doing, but i'm getting the Wii first.
