its been released on bleep, and is up on oink. surely it'll make its way around the internet in time.
i dont know who'll like this ep. on my first listen it seemed ok, but just cavalcade leftovers, but after some time its definetely growing.

The samples sound utterly dull. I had bit of hope during the first track, but that too just disintergrated into the the usual mad VSnares nonsense.

he doesnt sound Mad at all anymore. seems like just a ruse.
His cunning attempt to try and trick us.
I would like to see him experiment more and do a dubstep album or something completely different that he could attatch his blinds snares.

Man, this vsnares release is better than hardcore pom poms. these tracks are a little bit more raw than that last one...and the samples made me wish it came out first.
wtf is wrong with you vsnares haters. its like getting pissed off at slayer for making metal records. the dude does breakcore...not easy listening...or unlistenalbe autechre rubbish.

I honestly still enjoy some of the earlier albums he's done, and the new Hungarian-titled work. They had a certain vibrancy that most of his new pieces lack. All the new releases, bar that Hungarian one, just seem so predictable, so churned out.

i like most of his stuff, normally not depending on when it was released really. cavalcade was a weird one, cos it really sounded awesome and the tracks were so brilliant and everything, but there was something flat about the drums, that really took some getting used to. this ep follows the style of cavalcade, but it is darker and raw.
if you like snares, or cavalcade, it should be worth checking out.
'wtf is wrong with you vsnares haters.' ..are you really surprised? this is just another vsnares release afterall.

Its just boring. Every song sounds the same, and the sounds aren't interesting. Some people really get into a fast beat. Some people need something more than that. Its not so much venetian snares that makes venetian snares haters mad, so much as all the fanfare for all these really simple tricks that are used to make it sound complex.

Listening to samples: I like Frictional Nevada. The Potatoe Orchestra is fucked up. Shoot Myself is ok. Duffy's pretty good. Cabbage is a bit Rossz Csillag meets Huge Box Unfolding, Hospitality twists too much. It's all pretty typical Snares, so I guess I'll only buy this if it's in a sale.

i listen to Snares and just have questions like -- why not some deeper exploration of harmony? why always 7/8 or 7/4 and not 11/8 or 13/8 or 5/4 or 23/16? and then i smile because i just thought of something to do...

The first track starts out really promising... and then it just turns to shit.
It wouldnt be shit if that was the first time I've heard vsnares though, it's just that I'm starting to really get tired of him doing the same shit over and over again. He really needs to break his stuff down and reinvent himself a little bit.
Or maybe it's already too late for that :-/

Would you have preferred it if Aphex stuck to his old analog style? Or Autechre never progressed beyond Amber?
That's what keeps these guys on the cutting edge, they reinvent themselves with every release.
I like a bunch of snares, I really loved the Infolepsy EP... and I think he's got a shitload of talent, but he's done all he can do with this breakcore stuff.
The melodic intro to Frictional Nevada was great, much more alive then full then most of his melodies. Then he busts in with his SAME OLD SAME OLD breakbeat and the thick melody just dissapears into stupid little beeps... god that just pissed me off.
I've said it before: I'd like some snares brand hip hop style beats. I'd just for once like to hear him make a track with a solid melody that holds it all together.

I definately agree with you here. There are often hints of him doing something different during an album, but often he'll just do a load of drilly-beepy-breakey stuff to a track, no matter how it starts. I also used to find it great fun to listen to, but the fact his tracks go everywhere and anywhere doesn't do anything for me anymore, and I'm sick of those same old breaks.

the first track on this to me harkens to some of the early mid 90's COIL material for a brief moment it'd be nice to hear some of these breakcore whatever acts do something outside of that realm and something with some composure he makes references to Nurse With Wound in a title off the Winnipeg album obviously he likes good tunes but what about his

darius:
dadaism was an cultural/artistic movement that began in switzerland during world war I. logic and reasoning had gotten us into a splendid mess of a war and some people apparently thought that the only thing to do was to reject traditional culture and embrace the choas of anarchy. with their art, anyways. nonsensical poetry and meaningless paintings. not art so much as anti-art. these people has basically lost faith in their culture and were attempting to reject it. ironic that they ended up being so influential in modern art movements such as surrealism and Pop Art.
