Check out my brand new site!

After a lot of hold-up the website is finished. As some
already might know it just is a database of all my mixes.

Feedback is very welcome! :)

looks nice! I'm not too much of a fan of the main shape
you've chosen for the site, but it's nice and minimal.

nice, although the layout is a bit fucked in safari, it
looks decent in firefox though (see pic). it looks far
better than my html for dummies page, i'll give you that.

when you look in the music section and select a specific
subsection you could have a row of smaller pics enabling you
to to go to the other subsections.

the guestbook works. I promise not to spam it

oh and thanks for the linking :)

Thanks for the reply man.. I like it when people say what
they think:)

The main shape was one of the things I was clearly about
right away. The initial setup was to make it look like it
was handmate, I scanned the drawings with the main shapes
but that wasn't a success so it turned out this way.

All the photo's are by Chambre Noir, thanks again mate!

Haha, that looks very nice man :/
That screenshot is of Firefox? it might be because you are
on a mac as it's functioning 100% on FF here...

Gwely Mernans : consider yourself the first official

no, it was safari, I guess I put that (see pic) at the wrong
place. it's probably something wrong in safari's renderer,
but it works fine on other sites.

The only one I didn't post on xltronic is Kitty Mallitti..

vlari:
Luckely it's Safari.. as far as FF and IE are working I'm
satisfied.

@vlari:
No it's not safari his rendering engine. The reason why the
site looks so bad is because of the way the website is
structured. This website doesn't pass w3c, when the website
does it should be showed correctly at every browser.

That's not entirely true either EnsconcE.. take for example
my boc pages and you'll see it's: Valid HTML 4.01 Transitional! but
still the layout is fucked in Internet Explorer just because
Internet Explorer doesn't support lots of neat CSS-style
features (e.g. position: fixed) which I've used.

So it's not only due to having valid code or not...

offline Fredd-E from Belgium on 2006-09-10 10:31 [#01968535]

heh, fixed link: Valid HTML 4.01 Transitional!

staz: I know but I didn't had a choice or the photo would've
been totally wiped out, which is a shame tbh. I figured one
would select the text when it's difficult to read.

cuntychuck: Create one for me!

hanal: I figured you like that spot :)

you can still sort it and get it to validate - there are
loadsa workarounds for ie!

i know about the IE7 fix by dean edwards and that one should allow
fixed positioning for IE (check here) but
unfortunately it didn't work on my pages for some kind of
reason... any suggestion is appreciated regarding this
matter.

switch to xhtml 1.0

offline EnsconcE from Grunn (Netherlands, The) on 2006-09-10 14:45 [#01968659]
Points: 51 Status: Lurker

But that is a well known fact about microsoft Fredd-E ;).
I also have to confess that this website is only designed
for IE and FF, though a rewrite of the html part should
solve that problem. If you stick with only html you will get
far in a multi browser website.

It is very difficult to write one solution for every web
browsers(imagine lynx ;) ), i think you should write browser
specific solutions.

offline Drunken Mastah from OPPERKLASSESVIN!!! (Norway) on 2006-09-10 15:10 [#01968698]
Points: 35867 Status: Lurker | Followup to EnsconcE: #01968659 | Show recordbag

what? no.

browser specific solutions are the last exit. it's almost
always possible to make the code both validating, correct
(validating and correct code isn't always the same thing)
and functional on all browsers.

its actually nothing to do with (x)html but rather the css,
and yes it isnt difficult to test cross-browser/platform and
make it look correct in all, if youre serious about it.

Alrighty Skink, I thought you refer to the content. :)

redrum:
I'm using the same one xltronic (Phobiazero) uses and it's
ace.
I might drop it though, because it only works 100% when
there are more seeders and as I already suspected people
delete the mix right after listening. I might use it again
when I use up my datatraffic.

I like the shape and layout, but in my opinion it would've
looked better with thinner lines and better antialiased
curves, and perhaps a slightly darker bakground colour?

I tried thinner lines but then it was even more difficult to
make it better antialiased.

"slightly darker bakground colour? " do you mean because of
the text that is a difficult read at some parts, or the
white outer background?

No i know, but when you write javascript for instance you
will need to write browser specific solutions. Writing good
html does not always result in an all-browser-wide, good
displayed website. So browser specific is almost a must.

I agree that you need to sort out your html in a way that
you do not need browser specific solutions.

Check it out Sclah! thanks for the suggestion, it
looks far better this way although it's barely visible.
The mainwindow is much more highlighted now. :)
