i am considering buying decks--however how hard are acessible do think aphex twin, autechre, funkstorung etc is to mix togther do you think it is a wise desicion to buy decks ??? |

Decks rock! It's extremely possible to mux together tracks by these people. I mixed Gantz Graf with Public Enemy! It's very possible and much fun. BAM! |

Decks are fun but I think the reality is mp3 mixing is the future plus with all the effects etc and technology. |

MP3 mixing when done well with drum machined tracks is so flawless that it makes even really good beat mixing (deck) DJs seem poor in comparison. However, with tracks with real drummers, the "tweakability" (being able to ever so subtly slow/speed up the platter) of them makes decks a bit better. I can see MP3 setups being in a lot of the commercial dance club setups in the not too distant future. Mixing 133bpm house in traktor is so mindless that even a chimp could do it well. If any good comes out of it, it'll be the of decline of superstar DJs ;) For scratching and fast transition stuff that requires lots of vinyl manipulation (like drum and bass- lots of fast cutting between tracks, rewinds, needle dropping to breaks etc.) decks are still far better IMO. |

I definitely take your word for it. I can't DJ for shit. Then again I've never done it. Only times I've done live stuff I had to basically figure it out on the night and probably fluffed it up in the process. |
