Madonna vs Bjork

Is only my opinion that since ray of light Madonna tries to
imitate Bjork? But not only Bjork...music video remembers
windowlicker video and the songs madonna produces today
could come from underworld,orbital,daft punk...why can't she
do something without imitating other artists work? I mean
it's not the problem because i think that the music she does
in this way is miles better than the one she wrote at the
beginning of her career. the problem is the she makes money
as she wants, while other people she imitates are bound to
be less famous than she is! that's not right....what do you
think?

cool

the song was bedtime stories (1994). madonna wanted bjork to
sing on her song but she refused and she just wrote the
words...I listened to it but is quite normal as everything
madonna can do

Haha Madonna wants to be trendy but she can't come up with
anything herself, she's a parasite

Bjork on the other hand always comes up with loads of ideas
by herself and cooperates with people who she really likes.
Also people who are less famous or trendy(obscure choirs,
Matmos).

Bjork is like the underground Madonna... although she isn't
that underground, and she is much better... ummm, you get my
point anyways... I hope... :)

although, I have to admit, I have liked some Madonna in my
time... What it Feels like for a Girl is an awesome song,
and some other ones... some of her songs are what I'd call
good pop songs...

It must be absolutely impossible to imitate bjork... Her
singing style is so unique, it's just like trying to imitate
the psychedelic singing of serj tankian (system of a down)
or Jonathan Davis (Korn)... Their voices are the trademarks
of the bands they are in... Impossible to re-create that.

yeah, and like the voice of Richard D. James... who else can
put the emotion into Milkman that he does? :)

How 'bout that funny little man song? There was a shitload
of emotion in that one... really brought me back to my
childhood, when everybody was picking on me

Come to Daddy is a pretty angry sounding song to... but
RDJ's emotion is in the music... the melodies he writes can
break your heart in two if he chooses to do so... that's the
brilliance of RDJ I think...

i'm not sure... sometimes he makes it seem like he's only
pressing some buttons, and it just turns out that way...

or he's damn good at fooling me :)

talent is the ability to be consistently flukey!!! :)

convince people you are actually capable of doing something
good"

Bjork is WAY better than madonna IMO..
they're not even in the same class

madonna just annoys me..bjork is pretty cool
she is actually original, while madonna has done nothing for
herself

Bjork>Madonna.

Have you ever read the interview where RDJ explains his
reasons for not working with Bjork or Madonna despite their
requests?

Bjork: "Is like a candy in a babystore, she sees something
new and shiny and says 'ooh, ooh, I want that"

Madonna: "Is more 'He is young and popular, I can use him
to make me young again and further my carreer'"

she looks old and ugly now... she didn't even look that
great when she was young... her breasts were alright,
especially in that Material Girl video, but other then
those, she was ugly then as well... :)

I really like Bjork and Madonna's music (Mostly Madonnas
more recent stuff not the older stuff) but when it comes to
acting Bjork wins hands down (IMO). DitD is amazing, her
performance very moving.

complained about competition earlier :þ)

the problem is complex.... the imitators being more
appreciated than the originals...Madonna 's ray of light won
a grammy, and also radiohead Kid a, a good record of course
but too similar to all the warp stuff, won too. but people
like Bjork or Aphex who try to put out new music every
time...?for them there is no space....even if I'm happy that
aphex didn't win the brit? I could'nt see him receiving that
prize

-madonna's been imimitating bjork ever since she asked her
to write her whole ALBUM bedtime stories, not just the title
track (which, as someone has already pointed out, madonna
also wanted bjork to sing on). great song, btw. i'd kill to
hear bjork sing it, but madonna does a good job imitating
bjork's style without having a voice anywhere near as
interesting as hers. it helps a lot when bjork's production
team (nellee hooper, spike stent, and two or three others)
worked on the whole album (as well as other madonna material
in ensuing years).

-rdj should work with bjork. rdj got serious for a moment in
an interview and said he might work with her if he didn't
have to deal with her MANAGEMENT and LABEL representatives.
in other words, if he could deal with her as a musician, not
a singer. he has nothing against her, it's just that she's
popular enough in the industry that it doesn't make informal
collaborations easy.

-i have to admit, madonna's ray of light era is pretty damn
good.

radiohead already has a huge fanbase of people that buy
there records... most people haven't ever heard of warp, and
their artists... having someone know your name helps alot,
in winning awards... espescially artistically correct awards
