I watched "Hero" the other night, not bad (apart from the
wire work....... why do they have to have wire work?), and
it made me want to watch more Chinese movies.....

I've seen "Crouching Tiger....", and the "Once Upon a Time
in China" series.....

Anyone want to recommend some others?

all chinese M A fims are bad, thats the whole idea-but this
one brings the finest sword action.
as for the plot, you may also notice is the same in every
film.

Fist of Legend is probably what your looking for since
there's no wires and the fights are realistic and very fast.
The last Jet Li movie is also very good Fearless

Check Police Story as well, has some impressive fight scenes
with absolutely mad stunts.

Jet Li's IMDB is a good start, almost all pre 1994 HK movies
are good LAZY_TITLE

The Mystery of Chessboxing
Drunken Master
Young Master

And not strictly martial arts but martial
arts/comedy/horror:

Encounters of the Spooky Kind
Mr Vampire

Those two are classic.

started watching 'iron monkey ' last night, got 2 minutes
into it and stopped it. started watching 'fist of legend'
instead.

iron monkey looked old and shit..... bad fighting, bad
dialog, bad jokes.

fist of legend is ok without being brilliant....... i wish
they wouldn't speed up some of the fight scenes........
story is ok, a bit nationalistic, standard romantic
side-plot that is a bit lame.......

i still feel like the gratest chinese/kung-fu movie is yet
to be made

bruce lee movies don't do it for me......

and drunken master is good, but perhaps shows its age when
put up against 'crouching tiger......' and 'hero'......

almost a different genre all together
