I laugh just thinking of Matt Lucas in that 70s looking
tracksuit like some dreadful games teacher, with long, thin
hair, singing a song the lyrics of which consisted solely of
the words "Peanuts".

..and introducing Team B, please welcome Richard E. Grant!

Poppy-out-eyed thespian Richard prances around his village
green in an Elizabethan ruff and beige pantaloons, reciting
Shakespearian dribble to frightened children in his booming
RADA-style sweary voice.. then he rushes back to the reptile
house at London Zoo for his five o' clock feed..

Bloody hell! It was in '98.

Notes. The cast of The Fast Show combined with the leading
players in Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's anarchic game-show
Shooting Stars for a long season of live performances in
London at the beginning of 1998, video and audio recordings
of which were subsequently issued. The Fast Show team also
toured Britain in 2002.

The fast show live was brilliant how they did it, tonnes of
costume changes and they used the whole theatre as a sleight
of hand style trick so you'ld only focus on what they wanted
you to see. There's a DVD of it I think.

ooh that sounds good. I've recently been feeling like seeing
The Fast Show again - I used to love it, then got really
tired of it, but looks like it's back.. I'd like to see the
Ted & Ralph semi-film they did again.

I've never seen the Swiss Tony series - was that any good?

The Swiss Tony series was a bit poor really, you might have
one chuckle per episode but they tried about 50 lines on
you. Ted and Ralph did a big show stopping song at the end
of the live show. It was moving!

i went to see the shooting stars / fast show at the london
apollo theatre too. it was amazing to watch. particulary
good was the gag with hunter from gladiators being hoisted
across the stage from what my memory can recall. everything
was going grand until my mates mobile went off during the
fast show performance. he didnt know how to answer calls
because he only borrowed it from his dad for the journey to
london. it rang and rang before he could stand up and rush
out -pretty much interupting the show. paul whitehouse
later was interviewed about the tour and mentioned only one
bad moment being "someones bloody mobile going off for
ever......."

It went downhill after Will Self took over from Mark
Lamarr.
I don't understand why he felt the need to go on TV, after
being such a respected author. £?
