at least it won't cost you €2000+ for third party insurance on a 1.2 litre nissan sunny or some piece of shit like that.
you're lucky living where you do.

I'm 18 too :) I'm sure that there can't be that much difference in price just because you're a guy. When my brother first passed his only cost about £400 on my dad's insurance and he was driving a 2 litre car. There's something dodgy there mate. Look around for better deals! I'm sure you can get it cheaper than that

( i know fuck all about insurance by the way, i just accept what im told!
recycle: Mummy and Daddy are pretty darn rich as mummirs and daddies go round here, but they still rent a house! usually they are pretty stingy, saving everything they earn for some imaginary time in the future when they live in a pretty suburban estate in mississauga with tall trees and white picket fences and little kids playing in the streets and walking their dogs

How often are you paying the £1200 ??
Some people pay in 6 month increments here as where i pay monthly. I was just curious as to how what we pay differs.
Congs on passing the test! I almost failed the first time for almost clipping a car during the parrelel parking part. I like to get nice and close to cars and the instructer flipped out and took 22 points off for the move.

i've been driving 15 years and never got a single ticket. i have been pulled over 4 times, but somehow talked my way out of it each time. or got lucky. anyhow, my insurance is hella low because of my shining record. so driving like a ninny has been worth while.

Congs: Driving is the bomb. Don't listen to the hippies, even if it's a 3L muscle car, one car makes dick-all difference to the environment and even added together, the effect of all cars and bikes worldwide is negligible compared to heavy industry, natural warming of the planet, cows in India, etc.
Might be worth considering "pass plus"; basically a few more lessons that focus on motorway driving (definately worth getting tuition on, or you could end up one of these dicks doing 60 in the middle lane when nothing else is about) and also more realistic (rather than "how to pass your test") ways of parking, etc.. It gives you an insurance reduction too, which at your age/gender is worth having.
As others have said, in spite of your age, getting added on your parents insurance is worthwhile and you should be able to get insurance for under £800 unless it's a v. powerful Golf. Enjoy the Golf and provided you don't write it off/chav it up, you'll be able to sell it for pretty much the same as it's worth now. Fun cars; the new GTIs in particular are an absolute hoot.

dont bother with pass plus, I asked and they said for being on my parents insurance it wouldnt make a difference. and by the time you get your own car after uni you'll be 21 and have 3 years of experience which should mean insurance is a lot less like a prison shower scene
