i'm hoping someone can help.
i'm looking for a cheap portable "sampler" or some other battery operated device for making field recordings with a microphone. the quality needs to be reasonably good, and i'd want a decent amount of recording time (perhaps half an hour or more).
i don't want to spend more than £50.
does anyone have any suggestions?:

no way for thst money - for the proper sampler. if you have an ipod 5g you're ok. otherwise, sony minidisc, 2nd hand.

dictaphones what i use. mic picks up shit loads of background noise. nice for ambients but awful if you want to record something specific in an outdoor setting. still its USB, holds 1 hr of noise on the highest quality setting and is tiny so i always have it on my person.

It probly isn't cheap, but the boss micro br2 is about the size of a couple packs of smokes, and lets you multitrack and master stuff, as well as do tempo adjustment and stuff.

I've never really been happy with the quality of recording on my MD-recorder, but people assure me I just need a better microphone.
