The Palm Islands

The Palm Islands in Dubai are the three largest
artificial islands in the world, being constructed by
Al Nakheel Properties in the United Arab Emirates. Each
settlement will be in the shape of a palm tree, topped with
a crescent, and will have residential communities and
resorts built upon them. It is possible to make these
islands due to the wide continental shelf off the Dubai
coast, and the relatively shallow depth of the Persian
Gulf.

it's not that really futuristic; a hell of a lot of the land
in the netherlands is reclaimed land.

i can't help but feel this whole plan will go to shit when
sea levels rise though..

i thought the idea of huge islands shaped like weird alien
patterns seemed quite futuristic. although i can see a large
amount of room for failure with this one.

what mindboggling predictions.

you think they invest billions in the construction of
artificial islands, only to discuss afterwards the possible
consequences or rising sea levels? If only redrum had been
there to warn them!

and room for failure.. good grief. thats a pretty safe bet.

especially after reading "The water on the outside of the
turn is traveling at greater speed than the water on the
inside, and erodes the coastline much faster as a result.
Currently, the owners are simply planning to shift the
build-up to the indentations every couple of years to
counteract this effect. It is presumed the other Palms will
suffer similar trouble."

i lived out there for 18 years. it was fun seeing the huge
dredging process and most of the beachese being ed.

My opinion? they ed up all our surf out there. so
them. but we're getting an artficial reef somewhere
sometime. and the world is shmee. i challange anyone to buy
israel. anyway, the underwater hotel and the worlds largest
moving hotel/boat look alot more fun. as for dubai. it was
good when i was young. small, not well known, lovely
weather, peaceful life, good surf (1995 was amazing). now
its just a real shithole. good fun if you know what to do.
but lots of english wankers with dodgy dads who 'escaped'
england, and lots of wankers from all of the rest of the
world as well. and not many girls. much better in the good
ol days.

the last beheadin was a while back i think. there are still
excecutions im sure. but its nothing like saudi. the prisons
are complete shit though. bad times to be had in there. if
you have half a brain youll never have to deal with police
though
