The facts:

"A mystery about a woman in deep trouble" -David Lynch

168 minutes long.

Will premiere at the Venice Film Festival (September).

Speculation/Rumors:

Contains the Rabbits or a Rabbit from his internet series
"Rabbits"

Some footage shot in color, other parts in black and white,
some animation was created for it as well.

There may be literally thousands of hours of filmed footage
that Lynch is editing down for this movie.

I reckon he just thinks "Inland Empire" sounds good as a
title and it has nothing to do with the plot.

That clip may or may not be IE, there has been no
confirmation thus far. He released it on a dvd showcasing
some new digital video technology.

I can probably tell you that the clip is mostly likely not
from inland empire.

People, don't watch that clip assuming it's Inland Empire.
All we know is that it was from a dvd showcasing the
possibilites of Digital Video...

Seeing as how Lynch:

a) does not even include chapter breaks and beleives his
movies should be watched as a WHOLE

b) has said pretty much NOTHING about his movie, so why
would he show us part of it?...

I think its pretty safe to assume that clip is NOT from IE.

some scenes were shot in Lodz - the city i live in. Laura
Dern was here and also some polish actors in episodes. They
were shooting January and it was freezing cold and Dern told
polish newspapers she didn't know what is it about and what
was going on during filming. Everything was changing (the
script, the scenes) and Lynch was preparing storyboard and
screenplay on set. I would say that the scene on YouTube is
from "IE" most definitely :)

168 minutes long, huh? Grrreat

Very interesting for sure. He's probably one of my favourite
film makers.

A few updates for those interested:

Inland Empire will be at the New York Film Festival 2006
(sept. 29th- oct. 15th). Here's the synopsis:

A Polish woman looks, intently, into someone or something
... an actress (Laura Dern) is warned that her new movie is
cursed ... a rabbit-headed family perform sit-com actions on
a stage set as if engaged in a solemn ritual ... Such are
just a few of the elements and recurrent motifs of The
Inland Empire, a mesmerizing surge through countless looking
glasses that lands us on the far side of the land of
nightmares. Lynch’s first foray into high-definition video
is just as visually stunning as his work in 35mm, but the
long gestation period of his new film (he shot on and off
over two years, and wrote as he went) has allowed him to
give his own uniquely epic form to many of his primary
concerns: the exploitation of young women, the mutability of
identity, the omnivorousness of Hollywood.

More:
Venice Film Festival now has the runtime clocked at 172
minutes (instead of 168).

And accoring to this article it looks like that Room to
Dream clip may indeed be from Inland Empire. Who knows if it
will make the final cut, though.

I can't remember the last time I was so excited about an
upcoming film... Miike's Yokai Daisenso came close...

Too bad it's waaaay more than 3 days for us non-venetians.

Ok some mixed reviews are starting to come in from Venice,
some die hard fans saying it's his best work ever...
Personally I'm steering clear of reading any big reviews for
fear of spoilers though.

And it's confirmed that the "Room To Dream" clip is NOT a
part of this movie. There is a scene in the same backyard
area but the Room To Dream clip definatly does not make the
final cut.
