in a way its quite sad. the working class has lost its direction. manual labour jobs are thin on the ground in areas of the country which depended on them. many feel its too late or impossible to enter education, and there is social stigma associated with that also. people become jaded and isolated. many of the working class of yesteryear have improved their quality of life and are now middle class. look at the labor party. it is now more reflective of the views of the middle classes than its working class socialist roots. urban rot has kicked in the areas where work dried up, and those not fortunate enough to move to more affulent areas have stuck around, and with urban rot comes social rot. people have no motivation, no drive, no prospects whatsover. with a lack of education people will express their frustration, concsioussly or not, through agressive means. also in the last few years, the term 'chav' has been picked up on by the media. this is probably a bad thing. it suddenly shifted from being something you were, to something you could argue people aspired to be. it became a fashion statement. celebrities picked up on it. it made chavs a figure of fun. it made light of the fact that there is serious social disintergration within our allegedly 'classless society' you dont have to look very far to find conditions that are on par with developing countries in the uk. is it anywonder that we have people like this? if you've nothing to live for, you've nothing to lose. shag who you want. do as many drugs, rob someone, assult, makes no odds, things are fucked up anyway. don't get me wrong, i'm not looking on them sympathetically, but i just feel rather than 'kill chav scum' the bigger picture should be addressed. |

and i hear last night that the same two girls were waiting for me and girlfriend to walk the same route. luckily she was staying elsewhere that night - shes going away for a week - so i didnt bump into them. the two fucking chav sub-humans also told some of my friends that me and my girlfriend had "started it" by "mouthing off" at them. even though i have never had the will to even look at them, let alone communicate with them in any way. funny, the friends of mine they spoke to were once beaten up by them aswell. and his girlfriend lost her dad out of the blue one day last year, and she was accused of "making it up" and "faking it" by another group of Homo chavvius things, and her house was egged several times. she moved to another town because of it. |

one of the kids/things is in care. a local "care home" company owns her, the same one that owns my girlfriend (in care too - they used to know each other aeons ago). and their HQ is just down the road. i will probably complain to them tomorrow about the chav thing before she and her friend steal my phone and wallet. the childcare welfare shit / whatever in this lame country is fucked up too. the guy who owns this care company (called Solutions Prory or someting) has got so rich exploiting disadvantaged kids, he owns three planes. and they do not remotely attempt to control or educate the kids in their care. they are born into poverty, they are taken into care and Solutions Priory give them a roof over their heads, and nothing else, until they are 18 and then they literally boot them out, and they go back to poverty. not that these kids' history is any excuse for their behaviour. they have a "school" too. they deliberately keep all the kids in the company at a really low retarded level so they get more funding for Special Needs. they nearly made my girlfriend a retard. i saved her from that sickening place. |

i dont really know any of them, i dont want to. my girlfriend used to know them since she used to live with some of these fucked up kids when she lived in the Solutions care homes / battery farms. you can't escape them. many a time ive seen friends go into hiding for a week after getting beaten up and had stuff stolen by someone they dont know. |

Agreed. I don't buy the "society did this to them" argument. Yes, there are plenty of ex-industrial towns where it may be partially true, but there are plenty of places where jobs are not in short supply and people have great prospects, but you still get chavs. For example, Swindon has the highest rate of employment in the country, but you still get chavs there. I used to live in Cirencester, which is a bit like Tunbridge Wells (incidentally I've seen the scum hanging around the clock tower there). Lovely picturesque place, tourism is the main industry, nice olde worlde charm, perceived high level of education, affluence, loads of nearby non-urban areas for kids to play/hang around etc. Doesn't stop you getting packs of chavs there. I come from an ex-docking town that had its one main source of employment scuppered when Maggie closed the pits. If the chav-apologists are right, by rights I should have dropped out of school and become scum because of the extremely limited opportunities here. Instead I worked hard at school and then moved to where there were jobs. By and large, the ones I see hanging around pissing their lives away now are the ones who dicked about and were pricks in school. Oh and for whoever asked what the origins of the word "Chav" were, Coppers used to refer to scum as "Council Housed and Violent". A few people think it comes from "Chavvie" a Romany word for "Kid", but I'd say the former is more likely. |

Ross-on-wye is rubbish, lived there for about 18 years, as a nipper eventually escaped, there is nothing to do there its full of chavs and inbreds. All there is to do is sit in the market place get drunk on white lightening or watch the local youth drive round the one way system all night playing crap dance music with their 13 yr old girlfriends. lappers and slappers we call them. Their isnt anything to do because the council decided to keep ross the same as it was in the olden days recobble the road, put up fake victorian lamposts, got rid of a successful foriegn market etc we were going to have a cinema but never did, they took down the skate park, mainly because the council are full of old people with bad views on the 'Youff of Today' and we had a certain mayoress I wonder how she got in to power??? PROW you suck. The only club in town is a dive jaquolines nightspot, or Jaxs to the locals, they heve a DJ but we think he mimes.And the charlie, umm dive, but the hope is ok i suppose some nights or the crown. Weatherspoon shite hole. To be honest if your over 25 in ross you ahve about 4 kids living in a coucil house, so get out while you can.
