Say I've started to download a folder, but then I don't
want it.
How do I stop the fucker from poping up over and over again
in my transfers? I've trying deleting the folder, but it
doesn't seem to work.

you delete the queued files in your slsk downloads window.

Although sometimes that doesn't work, it's not deleted from
the mp3-server's side, so it keeps popping up again and
again as an upload.

Yes, that's what's happening.

Does it help to go into the Uploads folder in your shared
folder and delete the folder that carries the name of the
person from whom you wish to abort downloading "insert name
of something hilarious"?

No. It just seems to stop and start at random.
It's usually because I've started to downloaded something,
and then I'll see the same album at a higher bitrate or
faster K/s. Then when I try and get rid of the first one I
don't want, it just keeps coming.

if you have that person added to your userlist - right click
the name and click "remove user from upload permitted". if i
get what you mean.

downloading mp3's is illegal.

Not in England. Well, sort of. You can be prosecuted in a
civil court (sued), but the police won't take action against
you unless you are selling copyrighted material. Like some
fella on a street corner selling pirate DVD's or whatever.

offline OK on 2006-07-23 21:07 [#01942127]

disallowing uploads doesn't prevent you form downloading
what you want. it prevents other user from uploading stuff
to you.

check your preferences on this and do what obara said.

it isn't in the Netherlands. the act of downloading is
completely legal overhere.

uploading, however, is illegal. you can take, but not
offer.

I think whats happening is the person who sees the downloads
is starting them up again after you cancel them, probly
because he thinks you are having problems. I used to do that
too, just to be nice to people, until I realized that they
were canceling them and it was not a soulseek error. Just
message the person and ask them to stop.

They must do, because it's always the second or third most
full room on soulseek after indie (which is more like
general chat) and underground hip hop.
