having not properly used dance ejay since its first incarnation way back in 1998 (i think) i decided to see how it had developed over the years. when i used it use it back in the day it was fun and like a game more than anything else, great for euro house and not much else. so i download dance ejay 7. i have to say that this is a horrible piece of software. its like it cant accept what it is and has tried to catch up with the big boys, but failed. miserably. what a total crock of shit. i was looking forward to dragging and dropping lots of pretty blocks of music, and i got this shit. it is the most fiddly, ugly and crappy piece of shit in the world.
what did i expect, you say? well i didnt expect that you could make something worse than the original.
hmph.

i started out with eJay in 1998/1999
it was my first experience of making my own music, and i was amazed that it was possible to make music with just your computer. then i started getting really into it all and gradually progressed through ReBirth, Reason etc etc etc
i have eJay to thank for introducing me to the basics (and i mean basics) of a sequencer.
but yes, i would only ever recommend eJay to a complete newcomer to music making....and i would stress to them that it's extremely limiting and should only be used as a springboard into bigger and better things

what's the good of ableton live? is it really interesting for playing live? downloaded the demo version but it expired before i could really get into it. only played with the loops (funny but it's better to drive your synths rather than triggering loops).
