For me, it's a bit too sing-songy, and I guess that wouldn't
be such a problem if the lyrics weren't so
silly/pretentious.

"The Lemon of Pink" is my fav.

ah, i see. i don't listen to lyrics. only to sounds of
speech so i don't care. Lemon Of Pink was cool, but right
now i don't remember any track from it. gonna check it out
again.

The lemon of pink was awful, really ; I can't get into that
kind of music... =(

i thought this was their worst as well, but still an
okay/good album.

has some great tracks. the opener works well as what it is,
an opener, the next track is great and i think 'owl with
knees' is one of their best tracks

lemon of pink is my favorite because of how cohesive it is
and thought for food is just behind it because it doesn't
mesh as well as lemon of pink.

pretty much the only good album to come out of 2005. 2005
was by far one of the worst years for music *ever*.

I used to really dislike this album, as Jon/clic says, much
too songy.

but I've really grown to like it. in fact, I'd say "thought
for food" is the weakest, simply because it's all over the
place and not yet as well defined as "lemon of pink" or
"lost and safe".

I quite like the lyrics. I don't really feel their
pretentious because I get the idea that he's generally
singing about stuff he's genuinely interested in, it's not
"putting on a show", if you will.

and I also really appreciate him trying to do something else
with lyrics. that said, I also disliked the lyrics when I
first heard the album. it was only when I saw them live in
february that I finally heard how beautiful in places the
lyrics are.

for example, "meanwhile, the statues are bleeding green" in
"smells like content" is nice, I think.

overall my favourite is probably "venice". that really is a
fun track. I read a review that said that that track was
melancholy. I really have no idea how you can see that track
as melancholy, it's very playful to me.

the only track I really don't like is the first one, "a
little longing goes a long way". I just can't stand the
slowness of it, but even worse is the effect over his voice.
that just sounds like "oh look we found this effect and we
really like it and that's just about the only thing that's
going on in this song". bleh.

that "their" should be "they're"..

and I just noticed the last track wasn't in the cd tracklist
in the discog, eventhough I did enter it in the LP
tracklist.
