GRIM FANDANGO MOVIE!!!

"Gamespot's rumor control reports that a movie based on
LucasArt's critically acclaimed adventure game Grim Fandango
might be in the works. If the rumor is true the movie will
be directed by Tim Burton which would be a match made in
heaven. Here's a quote which apparently comes from Tim
Burton:

"After that, I'm gonna start working on a new script that
was sent to me recently: Grim Fandango. It sort of follows
the style of The nightmare before Christmas (sic) and Corpse
Bride. It's about a surreal land of the dead, some sort of
purgatory where everyone goes when they die. In that place,
dead people have to make a four-year transition before they
can rest in peace for all the eternity. I still don't know
when we're going to start filming this, though."

This statement by Burton seems to be stringed together by
several quotes from other interviews though so nothing is
certain. We'll keep you updated on this of course. Check out
the full Gamespot post here. "

I'm not a fan of Burton but he's the man for the job.

you're leaving out important bits there..

not only does the article say, as you have quoted..

"The problem is, the "interview" was actually a
collection of quotes lifted from other press outlets."

.. it then goes on to say..

"While several of the early quotes could be traced to
this About.com interview with Burton, several of the
others--including the Grim Fandango quote--remain of
indeterminate origin and are therefore unverifiable."

I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

I just downloaded the game.

I think I'll try playing it in the holiday.. after I
discovered scummvm, my holiday will be a happy mix of
nietzsche, kierkegaard and computer adventure games dotted
with poirot and that new doctor who series.

i did, yes i did!

and yeah i know of the quotes' unknown origin and
questionable validity, but the prospect of anything
'adventure' related still coming out of Lucas Arts whilst
they're still raping the star wars corpse always makes me
appreciate the games they did put out.

Mastah, that sounds like a lovely summer.

pretty much everything after Ed Wood kinda sucked. I guess
Sleepy Hollow was sorta OK. and Big Fish was alright on the
first viewing but upon watching it a second time... ugh..
yawn.
