ok, I'll most likely/hopefully be getting another turntable
after summer, but I'll also need a cart.. I've got a
concorde scratch for the turntable I already have, but I
figure I don't need scratch for both.. I know ortofon is
quality, though, and I want their products, and I'd like one
that can take some shit, but it doesn't necessarily have to
be scratch.. it could be one with better normal sound
quality for instance...

so I want experiences.. the concorde pro s? concorde gold?
electro?

I don't want to be confined to one type of music, so I guess
the electro is kind of out of the picture, but can anyone
recommend anything or share their experiences?

oh, wait, I just figured out.. concorde pro is better that
concorde pro s.. money is not that important, but I don't
have an infinite well of it either, but I can pay the extra
cash required to get a normal instead of the s of this one
for instance, and I guess I set the roof at what the
concorde scratch costs...

cocorde pro and concorde pro s are the same but for straight
and s-shaped tone arms.

try to get a kit with two needles (u can change that between
all concorde carts) so u'll be able to match both (or use
one as replacemenrt).

turn the table. turn it!

needles = stylus

(I myself use a pair of ortofon dj carts)

yeah, I'm buying a kit... but if the s are for s shaped
arms I'll probably need that as I'm getting another 1210...
anyway I found some site that said the pros kill records..
what about the nightclub or dj models? or should I just go
with another scratch?

well, as far as I know, most comercial djs use nightclubs
(at least round here).
more xtended freq response but less stable.
more for beatmatch, less for scratch.

congs on new 1210.

also: I think there's no point in having one scratch cart
and other less scratchy. when doing a set I never know in
wich side will end the disc for scratch and in wich the
base. anyway I'm a MESS, so maybe u can sort it that way.

and for killing records, all I have to say is:
Avoid straight arms at all costs!
more stability allways means more stress for the vinyl...
my dj carts work well for me (also on a 1210) but the higer
freqs are out, it only goes up to 18000.

sure there are some other t-tablists arround to help...

again: congs on new 1210!

yeah, thanks! I'll look into it some more.. maybe another
scratch will indeed be the way to go.. the scratch styli
cost a bundle, though, but I probably won't need to change
them for a while.. still got one spare for the one I already
have...

Yeah!
I always go for symetrical setups, just in case my brain
hemispheres get a shortcut or something...

I use a Concorde Pro, it works fine. Never killed a record
for the moment.
I also think that you can't alway foresee which turntable
you'll use for scratchin' so you'd better get 2 Ortofon
Scratch.
It's a pity that EuphonicFilter left the community because
he would have tried to convince you that Ortofon sucks!

there are more than enough people who think shures are
awesome, and maybe some of their higher end models are, but
their moderatly/cheap priced ones are crap!

ortofons are dope. shure's hifi carts may be great and
stuff, but from what i know the performance have lesser freq
response than the 'fons.

i'd get a matched pair if I were you, both because of the
"you never know which deck you'll be scratching on" thing
and it'll make you look like pippi with mismatched socks
