I had heard his name and i always assuemd him to be luke
vibert style electronic music and then i go grab multiply
and its a fucking AMAZING funky album that isn't electronic
sounding in the least? was i completly off thinking he was
electronica?

same way but it sounds like agenuine funk band withs ome
funky production. I love it its just teh complete opposite
of what i was expecting. Should i botehr checking his other
stuff? would i like you think?

I kind of expected that style from him. WARP seemed to be,
maybe still is, leaning towards that sound I guess. I
haven't checked with them in a while. But it's good, yes.
I've liked his, Two Lone Swordsmen, and !!! stuff.

if you don't like electronic music you won't like it. daddys
car is my fav lidell song.

and I know he appeals to a lot of other music listeners

i keep meaning to check that recent two lone swordsmen one i
heard it was very "band" like. It's nice this less
electronic sounding thing, tbh apart from snares and a few
select others im pretty much done with bleeps and chirping
sounds! theres an element where by it feels like people have
forgeten to appreciate good musicianshio in the way of
technical playing. Like the guitar has taken a backseat to
the point click programmer! sorry im rambling. The main
point is i like how electronica has become an influence now
instead of the driving force, its what feels more original
and more natural to me, like electronica has been played
with now its time to incorporate.

Anyhow multiply is sweet i really like it!

sorry.... I've beenw orking in a Vineyard allday and ahve
mild heat stroke so im a little mental headed!

night

multiply is a great album. see him live if you can. when he
performs tracks off of multiply live, it's a different than
the recording. he constructs the songs live by beatboxing
and singing and sampling himself. seeing him live added a
new dimension to my appreciation of his voice

i love the funkiness and soul influence of multiply. i
really don't like the way most people sing in modern
recordings, but lidell has a lot of soul and i don't mind
what he sings about.

yeah, his live shows didn't change really..he was doing that
long time before..infact he said his first experience with
music was when he was still a teenager i think and he was
going out to this club and once he ended up on stage singing
with some band he never heard before and it worked out great
or something..really a cool guy.

Recent TLS album (From the Double Gone Chapel) was brilliant
and as you say, a lot more "band-like". Still some
electronic elements, but a lot more guitars and real drums.
I've played several tracks off it at rock nights without
emptying the dancefloor.

Their cover version of "Sex Beat" is brilliant.

sent thru a blender.

music findings!

tolstoyed i was talking about multiply, you said it was
electronica.

and the last Two Lone Swordsman I dont really like, one or
two good tracks (sex beat) but really very boring otherwise
