What records released this year do you like, and what are
you waiting for?

For me, there has been some decent releases but not any
"WOW's"'. Jimmy Edgar, NOW and Battles on Warp: ok. Haven't
had time to listen to the new Plaid, but I'm looking forward
to that. Some good Norwegian stuff from Smalltown and
Runegrammofon, and Martin Horntvedt, Kim Hiorthøy and
Bjørn Torske this autumn can all be killers. New Ovuca too.

NOW was good and I have high expectations for both Hiorthøy
and Torske... other than that there doesn't seem to be very
much...

great releases of '06 so far:

underpants lord - acid mentalism
ghostface killah - fishscale
spac hand luke ep
hank williams iii - straight to hell
soundmurderer & sk-1 - toronto v.i.p.
der zyklus - mxyzptik ep
eagles of death metal - death by sexy
tool - 10,000 days
kerrier district 2
otomo yoshihide - episome
analord cd
and finally underpants lord - acid mentalism again
i know i forgot loads

awaiting the new woven hand, new raekwon and probably a
shitload of other stuff that i can't remember... i wish
joni mitchell would record something new, but that's pretty
farfetched. new beck this year please? portishead?
radiohead?

yes, matmos, forgot that!

also the new Noe looks insanely promising, perhaps my most
awaited release of '06

New ovuca?
Wicked! I'm not expecting anything insanely groundbreaking,
but it might be a good listen.

No...not much really..just some re-issues.. The new Andrew
Hill album 'Time Lines' was nice, but it doesn't really
compare to his 60's stuff... I just got a new issue of an
Andrew Hill 1965 session, 'Pax'. That's pretty wicked..

The new Stereolab - Fab Four Suture - did not excite me much
either, as I expected...

I look forward to more Andrew Hill re-issues. Next up - I
hope - is the monster session 'Compulsion' from 1966.

New new stuff? I've kind of fallen in love with
this chick but she has not yet released an album

The Knife - Silent Shout

Looking forward to albums from Various Production and Team
Doyobi.

deserve my help ;P

Anyway: Go to the Smalltown shop, and click "merchendise".

most albums i have bought in 2006 were mostly older stuff. i
was lucky to find:
derrick may - innovator
69 - sound of music
plaid - parts in the post
john tejada - logic memory center
those were all bitches to find on cd

and a couple of more recent ones:
analord, boc single, burial, jamie lidell, isolee,
villalobos, mr.76ix, mr oizo, spank rock, william basinski

looking forward to new radiohead, squsher and i'm keeping an
eye on the minimal techno/house scene. lots of interesting
things going on there. labels to watch: we are, poker flat,
cadenza, num

o, and the rediscovery of daft punk with their legendary
coachella set. that one's still on heavy rotation

Norwegian house legend Bjørn Torske teamed up with duo
Crystal Bois to produce this 12" titled "As'besto", a
collaboration where the artists remixed, reproduced and made
edits of each other's material, ending up with three house
and techno tracks.
Bjørn Torske started his career in 1991 with releases on
Dutch label Djax-Up-Beats, then following up with releases
on UK label Ferox, where he also released the critically
acclaimed "Nedi Myra" album. In the late 90s he released
several records on Swedish label SVEK and on Norwegian
Tellè Records, where he released his second album
"Trøbbel". Earlier this year Bjørn Torske released a 12"
on Smalltown Supersound.
Crystal Bois is an Austrian duo with close connections to
the SEX TAGS MANIA label. They mostly work on remixes and
collaborations, and under their techno moniker Paul 23 they
have remixed Skatebård (Keys Of Life / Sex Tags Mania) on
his "Conga" 12".
