what does that mean?

if you're not constantly doing something with your hands
you're sinning? so if i'm beating off i'm obviously doing
something with my hands, does that mean every time i j/o i
fight the devil?

As I understand it, it means:

idle hands = not working = boredom = want of excitement =
self creation of excitement = trouble = devil's playground

it's a common notion in the protestant church and I can't
remember who made the theory, but there is a somewhat
accepted theory that capitalism came about as a result of
that very notion. it is also why old protestant ladies
knit.

it basically means that sitting around doing nothing is bad.

Also, the documentary called Devil's Playground features
music by Aphex Twin. It's about Amish people!!

Capitalism existed waaaay before the bible and all that
shit.
It's more a case of Christianity adapting to modern western
thought than the other way around.

I think it was about modern capitalism, which isn't
particularly old.
