this is good news : )
though, with all the false stuff before, im gonna have to
wait until the shows are actually on air before i'll be
celebrating, and even then im going to have to wait longer
for dvds or something.
still, being a futurama fan, im happy atm

it's better to let shows die... like family guy... the
simpsons... south park... sealab 2021... after a certain
point, they just run out of ideas and it is time to do a new
show. stop beating a dead horse. the new family guy
episodes are really shit, for instance.

i can't see these new episodes being any good.

what's funny about it? it's just shit now. i've seen lots
of new episodes. it's all dumb shock humor. there's
nothing clever about it.

thing is, Futurama was still in its early stages, there were
still tons of ideas that they hadn't even begun using yet.

now Family Guy - that show never was funny to begin with.

Was Family Guy even clever? It was as dumb in the first
season as it is now. Torrents of boring, predicable
unfunniness.
Futurama seasons were very consistent in quality with many
episode highlights in the last one.

i disagree about futurama. it went the same way the
simpsons did in later episodes - having run out of ways to
make the characters funny, they resorted to celebrity
appearences with shitty celebrity jokes.

so yeah, there are unlimited ideas that *could* exist,
qrter, but they weren't coming up with anything fresh having
john goodman and al gore on...

as for family guy, when that show came out, i did think it
was very funny. i'm always shocked when people can't tell
the difference between the older episodes and the new ones,
because to me, it is practically a different show.

and yeah, i do think that making literary/theater jokes and
having a baby say things like, "eviscerate the proletariat"
is slightly more clever than your average "mm donuts"... so
there.

John Goodman did one episode in the second season, I think,
so why you'd name him..?

who cares. I'm happy with my Futurama dvd's.

on side note: the last few weeks you seem very angry and
agressive on Zilty, and very argumentative for the sake of
it, Arf.

I might know a little bit where this comes from, but it's
still a bit unsettling. don't get me wrong, this is no
attack, or me saying "I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU ANYMORE", far
from it. I think you're a great guy, it's just that you're
coming over a bit strong, as of late. :)

i know it seems like weeks, but i think it's been less than
one?

you're right, i'm basically trolling and really... someone
should temp ban me from here. i'm just being a complete
prick. i know it.

i meant nothing personal against you or anyone in this
thread, btw. just stating my opinion as usual.

sorry if it is unsettling...

sorry, unsettling is a bit of a shit word.. :)

I know you don't mean anything personal, and compared to
other threads you've been mild in this thread!

you're not stating your opinion as usual though, that's the
difference - you recently have the tendency to state it in
an overly agressive way. you can do it that way, if you
like, you wouldn't be the first on the board, but I think it
isn't helping yourself, really. I'm afraid I've started
talking like a healthcare worker now. oh no.

and I don't think anyone should have to temp ban you, you
know when to stop yourself, I'd say. that's what I'd say.
I'm saying that. hell yeah.

i cant think of a single episode from the last two seasons
of futurama which had any blatant celebrity
voices/jokes/whatever, save for the star trek episode which
was a great homage to the show.

i never really liked futurama much

offline pigster from melbs on 2006-06-23 18:16 [#01926132]
Points: 4480 Status: Lurker

yeah, futurama only had 4 series. the 3rd and 4th series may
have had some less funny shows compared to the 10 out of 10
second series. that said, some of the best episodes come
from the later series, and i dont think more episodes will
be a bad thing at all.

i still hope theyre making the movies. simpsons i cant see
working (not only cos its gone shit, but it wouldnt make
sense as a movie). futurama on the other hand, could be
really awesome as a movie and make the tv episodes look
short and rushed. i dunno, but i reckon it could work..

Mediocre Futurama is still better than 99% of TV out there,
so bring it on.

there are 5 series, or seasons as we call it on the left
side of the pond, of futurama, not 4, and imo some of the
best epsidoes are from season 5.

offline pigster from melbs on 2006-06-23 20:25 [#01926234]
Points: 4480 Status: Lurker | Followup to hedphukkerr: #01926191

well actually... : )
when they wrote the episodes and whatnot, it was 4 series,
but it was broken up and broadcasted as 5. so thats 1 reason
to see it as 4 series.
also, in australia, it was broadcasted and released on dvd
as the original 4 series. so yeh!

offline pigster from melbs on 2006-06-23 20:32 [#01926239]

oh. according to gotfuturama there wont be new series but
the 4 movies broadcasted as episodes. still good news
everyone.
