Here's one for dog_belch:

LAZY_TITLE

i think this is taken from "Honor Beats", to be released on
sublight on june 25th

He's a very talented man, just not my cup of tea is all. I'm
sure nobody wants to appeal to everybody, a certainly not to
some fuddy old bitter twisted throwback like me.

Good luck to him, and all who sail with him on those choppy,
breakcore seas!

the wink denoted sarcasm.

regardless, one would be proud to host the album and to have
sparked negotiations that led to the album's release.
without the archive, perhaps these songs would've remained
unreleased forever.

I always get the feeling that wisp's songs (not wisp
himself) is somehow showing off or bragging to me about
something. I don't know, but it makes me uncomfortable.

Honor Beats doesnt mean Honor My Beats. Or Honor beats in
general. Other than that, ive never bragged about my music.
dont know where that feeling comes from. But i am writing a
song called "Shy to fuk with ur short gun?".

Wisp has always been crisp with the beats and melodies. Much
respect to him, lovely to see someone who've spammed the
internet in the past, making moves, releasing and travelling
the world with his music. 1

He took a chance, and rose to the top of the fucking game!
His success is ALL OF OUR success. He showed us that
someone, hanging about on the arse end of the Internet,
could make it right up into the mainstream Internet.

hey! I believe I made it quite clear when I said "not
wisp himself" when I was referring to the music sounding
show-offy. The song--the song song singalong song--sounds
show-offy, like there's an image in my head of some spunky
teenager dribbling a basketball all fast and tricky-like.
I'm not talking about wisp smirking at his computer sipping
a bottle of mountain dew thinking about how phat his beatz
are. No, that's NOT what I'm saying, no no no no no no
maybe

this sounds like a Welcome to Your New Compaq Presario with
Windows 98 Tour demonstration song thingy. i don't know why
anyone would deliberately listen to this sort of music...

but to be fair, i have just been listening to a great heresy

Hate to disappoint my fellow playa hatas but this is a
pretty impressive track. Great propulsive feel. I rate it
3.9 out of a possible 5 turduckens - could have been a tad
shorter and had more harmonic variation - I know how it is,
you come up with a great arpeggio and you just want to
noodle over it all day. :D

It can be difficult to make an honest assessment of an
artist's contribution when it is attended by such a
distasteful gaggle of sycophants. Know what I mean?

I do. I hope you're referring to WATMM, and not myself or
xlt.. In defense of myself, I may laud him with compliments,
but i'm just fanatical and far from sycophantic - i don't
think i've said a kind word about NRTHNDR (certainly not, at
least, as much as i did about humpelndenbeats), which goes
to show i've still got my critical faculties intact when
listening to his music.

as for xlt, i think he's been met with more criticism and
insult here than anywhere else.

apologies if this post is completely irrelevent and
missing-the-point, but i'm just a very paranoid person
recently, and all too aware of the disliking towards me on
xlt..

yeah, everyone who doesn't like the music he makes is really
just JEALOUS of him. you've got it straight there.

that's exactly the sort of dumbshit comment that turns
people off to listening to this music.

i'm not going to like certain music just because someone
from the scene made it. that's stupid. as always, i wish
wisp the best with his career and his music, and hope his
success continues (yes, even though he can't appreciate good
metal).

I didn't say everyone, but especially on xlt people can be a
bit harsh for no reason. ok maybe jelousy isn't the right
word.

I just dont understand why certian xlters feel that all
music has to be groundbreaking to have any merit

read some of my recent posts about some of my favorite
artists (jello biafra, mike patton, vsnares) and then ask
yourself where the double-standard lies. i'm just as mean
when i'm talking about any of them being shit, so i don't
see any problem with what i say.

jelousy isn't the right word, no. it is spelled, "jealousy"
and there's no backing out of your asinine comment now.
you've already said it, why don't you just admit you're
completely wrong and a presumptuous fuckhead?

I don't think everything has to be groundbreaking, but I do
think certain ... micro genres have been done a bit to
death.

admit it, it's not that it's been "done to death" or that
it's a "micro genre" that you dislike it. what type of
music hasn't been "done to death"? metal? string quartet?
opera? zydeco? hip hop?

you just don't like it. when you tell us you love
something, we don't browbeat you demanding to know why you
love it. you love B12, try telling me that's not been "done
to death."

jeez, just because he suggested that some people were
jealous of his success doesn't mean that he means everyone
who doesn't like it is simply jealous.

somebody, email arf a link to rage-a-holics anonymous...

I'm not browbeating anyone, I freely admitmy views are at
best arbitrary and fuelled by bitter and bitterness. And my
skewed estimation of my own comedy value.

However I feel some "genres" are more enduring, or they're
more like, I don't know, blueprints from which you can work
outwards and become.. other things, say Techno or Orchestral
Shit. But, and I'm not saying anything about Wisp here, but
how long can you do micro-house, glitch, drill'n'bass,
electroclash... things that have developed from other,
grander themes, but .. as in nature, you know, not every
combination is a strong line, and should DIE.

I think of BOC-clone music as a microgenre. I personally
don't want to hear anymore of it, it has been done before
and was done better. As for wisp, I think he's got a lot of
great work, and all of it is characteristically Wisp, at
least I think so, I just don't really like it. I'm also
jealous of his success, and cannot help but grudge him and
his music, especially when he makes something I really like
(which has happened)

in conclusion, fuck you wisp! you little vst toting faery
spirit

You're ignoring the fact that IDM is objectively,
quantifiably 99% wretched crap.

You, as a scientist, should know this. :D

Any genre where the barrier to entry is a cheap computer and
a weekend spent learning pirated software is going to result
in massive shit-churning. If there were thousands of naive
messageboard geeks making zydeco, that would suck pretty bad
too.

So when wispy comes along and makes IDM that has merits, it
quite rightly takes some people a while to grudgingly give
it the recognition it deserves.

ah sorry, i didn't actually mean to say you were browbeating
anyone on this particular occasion.

it seems to me that the only measure of endurance is
interest, and there are still quite a few people whose
interest is fueling these "microstyles." i'm not sure
anything will be allowed to die, internet + nostalgia =
eternal life.

I'm sorry, I don't hear the merits. I just hear something
that has been done to death. that doesn't imply that I only
want to hear groundbreaking stuff, but I want to hear
something with some form of character at least. I just can't
hear this supposed 'wispness'.
