Here's a site worth checking if you're into hip hop. Don't
go into the Dungeon unless you're prepared for some
fucked-up images

http://www.spinemagazine.com/

I have an enormous love for all shit Jay-Z has ever
released, and particularly the last album, blueprint... He's
is my favourite... Busta Rhymes great as well...

But rap in general i don't really like... I'm a strange
person, very strange

you just haven't been exposed yet to the wonders that is
non-mainstream hip-hop.

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-03-07 23:14 [#00116544]
Points: 384 Status: Lurker

maybe so... is cannibal Ox non-mainstream? Give me some
names...

And is Jay-Z really that bad?

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-03-07 23:20 [#00116548]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

i like jay-z a lot. busta is ok. i just assumed from those
two choices that you didn't hear much else besides the
really popular artists. cannibal ox is definitely
non-mainstream. i like them a lot. do they get airplay in
the netherlands?

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-03-07 23:22 [#00116551]
Points: 384 Status: Lurker

not much, but a radiostation here called kink-fm, plays a
lot of non-mainstream shite... I listen to that on my way to
my weekend binge drinking...

But actually i've got not much hiphop... I have an old
fugees album, a wyclef jean album i got for my birthday,
some dutch hip-hop, and outkast... off the top of my head,
that's about it

to the person who said common never talks about bitches and

listen to the grandmother song on like water for chocolate,
or the ice cube dis "the bitch in yoo", among a dozen or two
other songs. i like his "gangster" songs as much as his
"conscious" songs, but even if i didn't i'd never act like
they don't exist or that he's never contradicted himself.

El-P "Stepfather Factory"

one of the best songs to come out in 2001. it's from the Def
Jux 2 compilation from El-P's label.
