Should be good, the Borat skits were the funnier of the Ali
G show.

can make a watchable film

Maybe he'll be a bit rude and say something inappropriate.

Borat's act is now old and tired.

saw it today, if youre into borat then i think you will like
it. there are some classic moments i think, even better than
his usual sketches. i think it works really well. its not
too long either.

the only bit i've seen is where he likens the brain size of
a woman to that of a squirrel. the feminists were not
amused.

is this film actually as good as the sketches, or does it
aim to please too many people?

I'm a bit worried about this film. I started laughing at the
thought of the laughter I would get from watching the film,
which can't be a good sign.

I've never seen a Borat or even an Ali G sketch, but I've
seen Cohen as Borat on The Daily Show and Conan and whatnot
and he cracked me up, so I'm looking forward to seeing this.

he's also been on Letterman.

in fact, I've seen him doing his little act on so many
programmes in different countries by now, that I've had my
fill already.

question:

is it all staged?

I mean, were the people he interacted with notified
beforehand? I'm sure they must have been, regarding legal
issues and such.

Then another question follows: is it still as funny?

some parts were staged, but most wasn't. The part in the
arena, where he's singing that song and throwing off
terrorists, was real.

If it was all staged he wouldn't be getting sued left right
and centre.

the end part with pamela anderson was staged.

as for the rest.. i'm unhappy with his rise to fame in
america. he keeps doing little 2 minute spots on stupid
american talkshows where he just says the same lines over
and over, and it's like "OH, HE'S FROM A BACKWARD COUNTRY,
CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH PROPER, HOW FUNNYYY".. not at all what
it's meant to be like.. he should've been doing what he does
best - making fools out of people (those interviewing him,
like letterman etc) - but instead he just embraced the
publicity and acted very tame.
