Teaser site been up for a while, counting down to the trailer, I presume.

More than any other movie, ever, I want this one to be good.
I'd do anything. Yet the odds are so stacked against it. It
is directed by Michael Bay, and among the actors in the
movie are Tyrese, Bernie Mac, and probably some other people
that are not good. I liked ''The Rock'' though.

I dunno. If it captures the spirit of G1 Transformers, it
could be so super. If they bring back people like Peter
Cullen (Optimus) and Frank Welker (Megatron), what a feather
in the movie's cap that would be. It's probably going to
have a ''sweeping Hollywood score'' and be peppered with
nu-metal and commercial hip-hop, but if it somehow
referenced Vince DiCola's virtuosic music, that would be
super. Maybe the Aphex Twins will do the main theme

I'm glad it's live action/CGI, anyway. Dangerous, but I'm
very interested regardless of if its a gem or a train wreck.
Lastly, I hope the movie is extremely aware of how campy the
whole concept is. Lastly I REALLY hope Soundwave is in it,
and as the classic boom-box, not an iPod or something.

Yeah, imagine them fucking with the concept of an
agrandised advert for toys. That'd be like, woooah, where's
my Soft Machine?

That's what I thought but am too tired to express. Wasn't
'transformers' the first to pay for the cartoons to be aired
with daft adverts in one deal? Was it Bandai? I need some
sleep.

Something like that can only explain the weird fascination
that the younger generation have with ... it's a bike, but
it turns into an awkward looking "robot".. with wheels on
it's shoulders and a face like a fucking old mudguard.

I've never seen transformers. None of the shows or even the
old transformers movie. my step brother is infatuated with
the whole franchise. whats the general concept of it? robots
that came to earth to fight a war disguised as trucks and
cars?

it was on earth, dont really remember

Yes there was. Originally, they used to transform into
vehicles and machines to perform menial tasks and help the
society run. They could walk around like normal humans and
such, but when they needed to move some stuff around, one of
them would turn into a vehicle that hovered and did all that
futuristic stuff. Then the war happened, and they crash
landed on earth. When the ships computer came online, it
noticed that they were damaged and required parts, so it
went around and took designs and materials from the machines
that were closest. They were cars, and some jets from a
nearby army base.

Thats what I remember at least. A friend of mine and I
watched the entire series a year ago when he bought the
dvd's.

and proceed to do some crazy gang star moves just so we can
see them dance? and the rest of the film will be complete

It's my favorite movie ever. Cliche campy choice for a young
man age 20-25, but what are you gonna do.

The main antagonist is a gigantic Transformer that
transforms into a a planet, and he's voiced by ORSON WELLES.
He came a long way, going from Citizen Kane to Transformers-
The Movie. Leonard Nimoy voices the other major villain.
They spared no expense.

Bernie Mac, for fuck's sake.

Does the movie summarize the series? Or would I need to see
some of the show first to catch up with the movie.

the movie is the only thing ive seen of transformers since I
was about 11. that does sound familiar though.

gwely the film doesnt summarise the series, it is a
particularly dramatic episode of the war in which the
leadership matrix is exchanged, i hope that doesnt spoil it
for you

watching the film, when Dare To Be Stupid comes on it has to
be one of the biggest wtf moments ever

from Gamespot:

Report: Xbox 360 in Transformers film
Review of leaked script to Michael Bay's upcoming
robofest mentions a transforming Xbox 360.
By Tim Surette, GameSpot
Posted Jun 9, 2006 1:57 pm PT

If reports from the Web are any indication, the upcoming
Transformers movie is taking a few liberties with the
classic toys to give it a modern feel. (Editor's note:
Possible spoilers ahead--read with caution.)

Bumblebee, known classically as a yellow Volkswagen Beetle,
is being supped-up as a canary-colored Camaro. Megatron, the
Decepticon leader who transformed into a powerful gun, may
take the alternate form of an alien ship in the movie. And
Soundwave, everyone's favorite boombox, may be scrapped in
favor of the CD-slinging Soundbyte.

Robert Sanchez, editor of The Movie Reporter, a Web site
that covers entertainment, claims to have gotten his hands
on the film's script and reveals a few more new Transformers
that may make it into the movie.

"I almost forgot to mention one of the most stupid scenes in
the script," he writes on the site. "For reasons that I
won't get into, we see an iPod, Xbox 360, and plasma screens
sprout legs and transform just a bit." It's unclear whether
the Xbox 360 Transformer is an Autobot or Decepticon.

For more information on the movie, check out the film's
teaser Web site, which went live today. Activision is
currently developing Transformers games for unspecified
consoles and handhelds.

1. They can't not have soundwave. I don't care if the youth
of today don't know what a ghetoblaster is.

2. Plasma screen transformers. Please. Don't.

Otherwise I am still very excited.

I can't even fathom a transforming iPod/plasma TV (plasma
sucks anyway)/Xbox/etc. Sounds more like a cynic's wet dream
than an actual fact, with actual evidence. Why not reveal
something of substance if you ''have the script''? But it's
a Bay movie, so I'd never rule that shit out.

I heard Megatron was a tank, not a ship, which I could live
with. Transforming into a handgun always did my head in,
anyway... where did all that extra mass go to?

Gwely- no need to see the cartoons before seeing the movie.
It's not like the characters or story are... deep... or
anything. The movie also kills off a lot of the old
characters and introduces a lot of new ones.

Although if you had a background watching the cartoon, as I
did, and were 5 years old, as I was, you'd probably cry when
Optimus Prime died.

I'm sure that script is CHOCKA FUCKING BLOCK with
substance. They just missed it as.. it .. wasn't.. there.

An advert for forthcoming video games, based on old toys,
that they've shoe horned other products into... wow, can't
wait to pick holes in THAT plot.

theyd better not make him an iPod

that thing abut ipods/xbox/tvs just suggests to me they are
doing a sequence showing transformers are everywhere in
normal life, its probably just a joke/advert intro or
something

Yeah, now that you mention it. The way his legs swing up, I
tend to think that they become the ''speakers'', but...
they're really not. I think most people think of him as a
boombox for some reason, even that article up there referred
to him as a boombox.

Re: Soundwave in the movie, from wikipedia (so must be taken
with a cinderblock of salt)-

''According to leaked movie scripts, Soundwave's alternate
mode for the upcoming live-action feature film is rumored to
be a four-foot tall boombox. However, the director of the
Transformers movie, Michael Bay, has stated in his blog that
the scripts that were leaked were several months old,
leading to speculation that this information may no longer
be accurate. It is still possible that Soundwave may appear
as a helicopter in the 2007 film.''

I could deal with a shameless Xbox product placement if it's
treated as a one-shot joke and the Xbox character does not
become the film's Jar Jar Binks. Michael Bay has to put food
on his kids' plates SOMEHOW.

not sure, I know a few of the original voices are dead.
Also just read that there will be no size shifting in the
movie either? That means the jets will be massive and the
cars will be tiny; it's not going to work.
