(talking about the album with Mike Patton, Amon Tobin,
Massive Attack etc) i keep hearing things about how this is
great, or how this is crap... people's opinions seem to be
really divided over this one. what do you think of it?

i haven't heard the album, but i'm frankly surprised/worried
after hearing comparisons with Linkin Park, and hearing that
a guy from Blink 182 is featured on a video... what the
hell?

I thought "mood bells" kinda....sucked

I saw this on the shelf and ummed and aaahed about it.
Should I buy it? I liked the first single that Linkin Park
did, it kind of reminded me of God Lives Underwater or
Crowforce, but I soon got bored of their style/production

One album, should have been huge. That's what you get for
having a guitarist who calls himself The Count I guess.

Sounds like they haven't improved together much before
either.

it's ok.
Linkin' Park?? WTF? Who told you that!?

someone on another messageboard and some critic
("entertainment weekly", can't say i know them).

listening to "Mojo" (can be played on myspace), i can
see what makes them say that... though i can't say i agree.
it's somewhat awkwardly radio-friendly, yet it's still Mike
Patton.

I LOVE IT been listening to it all day

We're not alone remix is AMAZING! i love it and its just
fucking great,. iots not what i expected but REALLY good.
but then i am obsessed with Mike Patton (not in a gay
stalker way) i ahve an entire shelf of Patton related music
etc... but this is far better than General patton and the
xecutioners!

i love it

i like very much General Patton vs the X-ecutioners...
although it can be a tiring/boring listen the first times,
with all these samples...

okay, i like it. it's not as great as, say, Mr Bungle, Disco
Volante or Delírium Córdia, but there are some lovely
tracks here (Five Seconds and Kill The DJ are my
favourites).

i downloaded the demos and i agree that they were way better
though. everyone interested in Mike Patton should hear
them... <3

Peeping Tom demos.

6 tracks (actually 7, but the fourth and sixth are the same,
go figure...) from 2001; a few older versions from tracks on
the self-titled release, and some unreleased tracks...
including a cover from It's A Desperate Situation
from Marvin Gaye (my favourite)!

offline uzim on 2006-06-11 05:20 [#01917655]

(okay, maybe i exaggerated saying that they were way
better - but there are some tracks on the demo that should
have been included on the album in my opinion.)

by the way, isn't this an Autechre sample on How U
Feelin?
? from Eidetic Casein maybe?

i've had the demo mp3s for years (a lot of people have),
which is why i was kinda looking forward to this... the
demos blow the album away. they're actually good, whereas
the album was... well...

finally downloaded this. im a huge patton fan and i dont
know whats wrong with you guys, this is really quite great.
patton is probably the best male vocalist ever of anything.
(bjork being his female equivalent)

im really looking forward to seeing this live at coachella,
im curious to see what hes gonna do as theres gobs of
overdubbed vocals and such. also to see who he perfoms with
from the album. itd be a real treat to see doseone or kool
kieth live finally.

also, theyre playing the same day bjork is, so im entirely
expective him to play with her as well (seeing how he did so
much work on medulla. oooh, such deep bass stabs his voice
makes).

i like it, better than the General Patton crap. I think with
patton you either hate him or like him... theres not much
room for in between. I like, yes.

but its just not mr bungle is it.

ah well, i'll just listen to secret chiefs 3 and pretend i'm
at some sort of a rave that is in 15 countries
similtaniously. aaaahhh its so lovely and yet so very very
odd.

"And i know that assholes grow on trees but i'm here to

That one of my favortie lyrics of last year. It's a bit
silly i know but it works for me.

i still need to get into secret chiefs, theyve been on my
list to download for quite a while and i keep forgetting to
look it up

and no, its not mr. bungle, but i think expecting something
of that calibur is just setting yourself up for
dissapointment.

like asking for autechre to make another confield

for those who love Mr Bungle, i recommend listening to Naked
City. it's not the same genres of music (more jazz-oriented
though it's really a mix of jazz, rock, metal and lots of
different kinds) and it's almost all instrumentals, but it's
just as wacky and great (if not more!)... Mike Patton also
did the vocals for a special version of a track on one of
their albums.

here's a video (for "Batman", off the first eponymous
album) if you want to have a taste.

(sorry for the digression.)

love it.

I kept four tracks. The rest I threw away.
Rock with electronica is soo last century. The best thing
about this album is its cover.
