The meaning of life

What is the meaning of life (for you) ?

I'm asking myself a lot of questions these days, as I am
often bored and do not know what to do.

I do not expect you to give me an answer. I would just like
to know what are your thoughts about this important
question.

Perhaps should I wear another avatar when I raise this kind
of issues.

well....

to me its being happy with who you are, doing whatever you
enjoy doing (and are probably good at) - as long as its not
hurting anybody else, keeping your chin up when shit
happens, not over-analysing life and all its delemmas, and
creating your own happiness - because it can't come from
without, it must come from within.

and of course enjoying family, friends, new places, new
foods, new experiences and all that stuff. even if you're
like me and don't get to do it often at all :)

there's no great secret to having a 'meaningful life'. It's
your attitude that determines the quality of your life. And
therefore its totally up to you!

:)

well that's my two cents.

That is also the only thing I can think about right now.

These last weeks, I have tried to be as busy as possible but
I obviously think that getting amused in order to spend our
lifetime is not the key.

it has no meaning of itself, I would say.

it happens and you kind of get caught up in it.

the meaning of life is avoiding death

and as for what kind of meaning you could give it yourself -
I don't really know. I find being alive highly improbable
and extremely normal, at the same time. it makes my head go
BLARP sometimes and at other times I get bored.

so in short - whatever gets you through the night, I guess.

meaning of life:

having kids / passing on DNA / shagging

these are all nice glib answers (including my own, I might
add, although I was being serious) but do you ever really
think along those lines?

do you ever think, "I need to pass along my DNA, heeey.. it
all makes SENSE now!" or "all I have to do is avoid death,
it all makes SENSE now!", etc.

no not really, i only meant it in a biological way. i never
think like that. from my perspective my purpose would just
be to enjoy myself as much as possible, i guess.

i don't think life can ever make any sense. the fact that we
die and we have no idea why (excuse the rhyme) is just
confusing and mind boggling. there's nothing you can say
really...

the question "what is the meaning of life" is designed to
fuck with your head. try applying this question to something
else like "what is the meaning of sitting" - to me the
question makes no sense at all. "what is the purpose of
life" - now that's more plausable. now i can answer the
question of "what is the purpose of sitting" - to allow your
legs to relax from standing.

to me, life means existing on earth. all i know is
that i like being alive. i like to enjoy myself and feel
good emotions. i don't understand any more than this but all
i do know is that i don't want my life to stop.

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's
evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's
reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years
thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central
point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed
there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in
space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.

The Meaning of Life

Why are we here? What's life all about?
Is God really real, or is there some doubt?
Well, tonight, we're going to sort it all out,
For, tonight, it's 'The Meaning of Life'.

What's the point of all this hoax?
Is it the chicken and the egg time? Are we just yolks?
Or, perhaps, we're just one of God's little jokes.
Well, ça c'est le 'Meaning of Life'.

Is life just a game where we make up the rules
While we're searching for something to say,
Or are we just simply spiralling coils
Of self-replicating DNA. Nay, nay, nay, nay, nay, nay.

In this 'life', what is our fate?
Is there Heaven and Hell? Do we reincarnate?
Is mankind evolving, or is it too late?
Well, tonight, here's 'The Meaning of Life'.

For millions, this 'life' is a sad vale of tears,
Sitting 'round with rien nothing to say
While the scientists say we're just simply spiralling coils
Of self-replicating DNA. Nay, nay, nay, nay, nay, nay.

So, just why-- why are we here,
And just what-- what-- what-- what do we fear?
Well, ce soir, for a change, it will all be made clear,
For this is 'The Meaning of Life'. C'est le sens de la vie.
This is 'The Meaning of Life'.

the birth of my daughter finally gave my life purpose. but
still no concrete meaning. it does however make so much
more clear to me the fact that our purpose is the same as
any living creature, plant, bacteria or even virus. we
exist mostly to make more copies of ourselves. why?
probably so that there is more of us than them.
